I'll go first so I don't have to post later- I plan on turning mine into one of those calm-themed islands, with cool water fountains and gardens. I'll drop the Doze Code when I'm finished with it.
I turned one of my slumber islands as an extension of what you had to make in Happy Home Paradise. And the next one is a small amusement park with a boardwalk over the waterfall.
I was SO excited for the update specifically for the slumber islands and now that it's here... I'm honestly struggling with what I want to do!
On my main island I have a few differently "themed" areas and I'm kinda regretting that now as it's leaving me with fewer leftover ideas for slumber islands. One thing I am still considering is doing something with the Mario items.
I don’t really think it’s a feature that I’ll end up using. When I first heard about them, I was really excited because I wanted to design islands for the different seasons. So if I was bored of the snow, I could visit my summer slumber island, or if I was feeling festive, I could visit my Christmas winter slumber island. But then I found out that you can’t change the season, so it just felt a bit meh.
I'm doing a continuation of my main island. Which is Japanese theme. I have started with an entryway at first, but... It eventually became my main island's..so I tore it down and started over again.
The entryway was the only thing I've done there and bits of ideas I had in plan for my main island when I was reworking on it.( Slumber island is great for that BTW.) So it wasn't much work wasted or anything.
I haven't gotten to it yet but definitely going with a spooky/Halloween one. I've always wanted a desert one myself but it might just be boring and plus I'm going to have a small desert area on my real island, so
i'm overwhelmed by the possibilities...but the first thing i want to try is to fill it with as much water as possible. with some tiny islands to put stuff like, i dunno, a park. and i like hopping across the water so i'll have paths of separated land tiles in between them all.
i'll probably make one of them a proper, developed place that's decorated and whatever, but i don't have ideas for that yet. (well, i have one, that being a hypothetical new leaf town idea i had a long time ago, but it would take a lot of effort to incorporate it into a slumber island...)
I remade (part of) my island on a slumber island to trial some terraforming ideas I had.
Some worked some didnt.
Im now a lot happier with my island and thats (in part) due to slumber islands.
I didnt think they had anything to offer me but im glad I was proven wrong.
I do not even know how to unlock the slumber island feature and I probably need to unlock more in my catalog anyway before I can really get creative.
Apparently, you can have three of them.
One of mine will have pink flowers (including cherry blossoms), and valentine's day themes.
One is planned to be winter and astronomy themed.
And finally one will be bright, colorful, whimsy, and sweets/candy themed.
I'm not sure, yet. I stopping using the feature shortly after it came out since it came out because it's been really disappointing. No season changing, weather patterns are locked to time of day, there's no building, no homes, villagers provide no dialogue, and they despawn when you leave.
Once Spring comes along, I'll probably spend a little more time there when I am in the mood for rainy weather.
