So I'm about to launch into a major renovation of my town, and to do that I'll need to add more characters to hold patterns for paths and such. I don't necessarily want to play with more than just my mayor though, so I was thinking this could be a good opportunity to use their houses as something different than just regular houses. After all, real towns have more than just a town hall, cafe, police station, and a few shops.

I'm not sure what to use them for though! I have a few ideas, like an inn, or a bathhouse, or an indoor garden/greenhouse/nursery. Maybe another museum, but more like a traditional kind of museum that displays ancient artifacts instead of bugs and fish, or my own kind of shop that sells souvenirs instead of clothing or furniture like on Main Street. Maybe even a pet shop! Though that could get kind of uncomfortable in a town full of animals.

I wanted to hear if anyone else does something similar and what ideas you guys have though! Tell me all about what you do in your towns.

Mine is acbay.com headquarters. See signature if you don't know what acbay is

I have a hotel ((waiting area, cafe, rooms and a casino in the basement ^.~)) and a girly garden girl ((princess room, lovely room, gardens of different kinds, and a garden shop))
And then my mayor ((my character who I do whatever I want with XP)) has a sweets room, ancient room, library, ship room ((think I will change)), upscale bedroom, and spa-like room.
But, I just started the town so the homes are pretty bare at the moment and I am working on upgrading the homes, still. ^^'

One of my side houses is a hotel, and then the other is an art studio/library. My boyfriend used his side house as a school.

One of my houses is just planned to have rooms for random purposes. The main room is being modeled into a sweets shop right now. Basement will be an arcade. Upstairs will be an observatory. Not sure about the others yet. Some kind of bookstore/library may be cute eventually.

Further down the line, I'll make an alt for a creepy house telling a horror story suggested through mannequins, furniture and such.

I really like the library idea! Something with books, computer access, and studio/working spaces sounds like an excellent idea. I could even put my own mini cafe/sandwich shop in one of the side rooms... I have the 7-11 set and I want to display it,but it's kind of tacky in most other contexts.

The haunted house is also a fun idea, depending on what direction I go with the rest of the town.

I have a bakery with a coffee house in the side room and my other house is a huge sushi joint with a karaoke room, tea room, mahjong game room and a sauna in the basement. I made that section of my map into a downtown area with my coffee shop. And as soon as I get my bus stop it will be next to the coffee shop. I'm still not done getting every thing fixed yet.
