I would like to know what areas you have on your island?

Example of areas are things such as cafe, arcade, gym, and etc...

I currently have two unique area on my island, archery ranges and watch towers.

What about you guys?

I have a farmers' market area, a zen garden, hot springs up on one of my cliffs, and i'm working on an outdoor library!

I have a bonfire area on my beach, a swimming pool area, a playground, a rest area near the museum with a bench and vending machine. There's a campsite (more than just the tent) with a campfire, hammock and radio. I have an orchard surrounded by a stone wall with a well in the center. I have a bamboo garden up in the mountains complete with an onsen and other decor. I'm working to make an actual entrance area too to give people a nice first impression when they first come to my island.

Mairen you are so descriptive! Do you have a theme for your island?

What pathing do you use or most people use for their hot spring? Like do you use grass, dirt, or tiles or is it better to use a custom path instead? I hardly go outside and I have no idea what surface hot springs are usually on?

Town centre, mountain hot spring, unruly wild lands.

All need more development.

- Downtown area around the plaza with 5 houses, Nooks and the museum. I tried to go for a town-like theme, but not modern, more like the ancient downtowns we have here in Europe. Imagine Hyrule Town in Zelda, Ocarina of Time.
- Residental area with 5 more houses, the campsite and Able Sisters on the other part of the island across the river. 3 houses are elevated on a level 2 cliff. Funnily enough, this is where all my "premium"-villagers (Bud, Audie) live so it feels like that fancy area of a town where all the rich people life.
- nature area, which takes up the northern half of the island. This is where the cliffs originally were when I started. I modified the cliffs a bit, mainly making a canyon that leads up to Redd's beach. There are no buildings here, just trees and some flowers.
- My corner: I put my house in the upper left corner of the island isolated from the others. It's just a little garden area.

I don't think I really have a theme. I like to kind of have the freedom of decorating with any item I desire to use, rather than being limited in using certain types in the effort to stick to a theme. I suppose if I had to choose a few words though, it would be a tropical asian foresty kind of island?

I have: (Starting from the Airport up)

- An entrance to the Resident Services from the Airport.
- A shopping district at the back of the Resident Services.
- Villager Plateau Neighborhood.
- Small Campground next to the right of Villager Plateau.
- My extra character's farm area at the bottom right of the island.
- A Fancy Restaurant that I haven't gotten around to build yet which is to the left of the farm area.
- At the top left lies the Museum area.
And of course, by the secret beach where Redd resides is my home and Eugene's pool area. With a grand lookout rest stop with neat waterfalls. Followed by a Park with a heart shaped pond at the bottom going back to the shopping district.

And that's it for now.

This is making me realize that my island doesn’t really have an “area” theme or so. I just plant the buildings and put trees and flowers around it. The closest thing I have to an area theme is the orchard and thats just a bunch of trees next to each other 😩

I just put mine on grass, no paths at all! I used the outdoor bath item, bamboo noodle slide, deer scare, and I dug out a large pool of water in the center of the cliff, with a waterfall coming down the front. I also use only green and white mums in my hot spring area, to give more of a natural, calm feel.

But I'm sure it's a beautiful orchard~ ^_^

Here's my map in its current state:

On the top left is the camping area. I might make a lighthouse area of the extra plot of land.

Left side is the museum area where I'll probably plant foreign fruit and objects that'd suit the theme. If you go down the incline you'll find a proper picnic place fenced in with tree table and tree bench (and some music). Right next to it is Able Sisters. Behind them is a forest for now.

On the bottom right is obviously the neighborhood. I put them in a row out of convenience (hoping to remove every second home to a secondary neighborhood), but I really like them all in one place. Next to the town hall is Nook's Cranny, I thought it would be nice to have them together. I still have to move it though so they can be on the same level, not sure how to "path" it but I'll see what the next upgrade is.

Between the neighorhood and the "Nook area" is the "inner city" with an open café and walking area with a fountain. Right next to the town hall is a public garden. Since the majority of the villagers are usually on the right side of the island it's nice to have them around these areas.

The hill next to my "house hill" is covered with bamboo and moss items. This will be a secluded/relaxing area.

Right now everything is bare bones. I use the brick bridges, inclines and path. The café got that nice stone with a brick wall. Right now I'm mostly waiting for white fences to bring more color into my theme. But I like the look of a peach/orangish/flowery golden hour type of "town".

1 zen area (still need to add more stuff in a certain part to make it 100% complete)
2. carnival with an outdoor arcade entrance (this is getting destroyed later. as much as i like it because I went wild here also it just doesn't look right? it clashes with the rest of the areas I guess)
4. playground
5. lifeguard area by the beach (used three lifeguard items with complete surfboard set. still missing 2 life rings though ://///)
6. resting/reading area (this is by six of my villagers houses where they can sit down and read and successfully they do that. thank god)
7. another resting area where I added that bird fountain or however you call it and I just whatever added an acoustic guitar which my villagers always play with
8. next to this area i have two street organs. might remove this but it looks nice
9. across from the street organ section is my outdoor library which is looking very dope. I'm so proud of this area
10. picnic area. also extremely proud of how this area came out
11. cafe is behind my able sisters shop
12. diner restaurant is behind nooks
13. gym (was working on this hours ago)
14. tiny library area (was about to google up some inspo for this wip location
15. and another kinda rest stop where i added the snack and drink machines.

i have many many many ideas which I will be doing later. I really don't wanna rush stuff in case of any future updates. but we'll see. I still have soooo much room to fill up.

I recently reset my island so all of this is a work in progress:
- Campsite
- Residential area (includes areas for a picnic)
- Market/shopping area
- Cafe/Library
- Outdoor gym
- Museum
- Public beach (x2)
- Outdoor restaurant (seafood themed)
- Botanical garden/orchard
- Duck pond
- My home (very natural in the upper levels with a farm, beehives, and waterfall)
- School (second character house)
- Indoor restaurant (third character house)

aside from my neighborhoods:

-dry landscape garden
-outdoor cafe/food stalls plaza
-park/playground (still in need of much development)
-crafting station w/extra materials and tools
-turnip farm
-hot springs
-mountain forest
-fruit tree orchard
-bamboo forest

the areas i'm planning that i haven't started development on yet are an outdoor vaporwave pool area, a witch's grove, and a flower garden that's organized like a really fancy garden, with statues and everything. the garden is gonna take a looong time bc i want it to have some of every color of every flower, and some of these hybrids are really hard to breed (and i'd like to do as much of it on my own as possible).

i love this question! and i'm definitely going to be following along to see what other people comment :) i've got my island divided in four now by a cross shaped river.

in one quadrant, i've got my neighborhood of villager houses which i decorate with a 3x1 row of flowers on each side, but they don't have lawns with furniture, per se.

in another quadrant, i've got my shopping district. so far i've got the buildings all set up, some cafes, and i kinda dumped all my hybrids and bushes but it doesn't look pretty lol.

next, i have my rep's house quadrant, yes i gave my rep a whole quadrant to themselves LOL complete with a plastic pool.

and lastly i've got an orchard between my rep and the shopping district, not so much for money making purposes but mostly aesthetics, i'm not gonna lie.

I broke my island down into four main "zones", with smaller areas in them. I think it sounds a little needlessly complicated, but it's easier for me lol

I have the downtown area (shops, museum, coffee stand, flower garden), the field area (campsite, carnival, docks, residential housing), the old area (shrine, rock garden, more residential housing, eventual cemetery ), and the cliff/mountain area (hot spring, fruit orchard, park)

I currently have:
  • A downtown area with the museum, Resident Services, Nook's, and Able Sisters'
  • An area by the beach with a flower shop and a breakfast/brunch place
  • A zen garden with a fish market and a food stall
  • A Chinatown restaurant opposite a kimono shop
  • A tiny amusement park
  • A cliffside cafe/restaurant next to the secret beach
  • A campsite area
  • A plaza in front of two of my neighborhoods

I've got two residential areas, a commercial area, a flower hybrid garden, and I'm working on building a little outdoor space with a farmers market and a concert area!

I currently have two unique area on my island, archery ranges and watch towers.

I'm really curious, about this, actually-- how did you go about making an archery range?

currently I have:
- a two tiered resident area, each with their own little yards as I really wanted to decorate them to suit each villager
- fruit orchard/general farm/garden area with my silo and beehives (it's my favourite place on the island !)
- I have a swimming pool next to the resident area
- My shopping district has a small cafe square in the middle, with quick access to the beach and a small coconut juice bar and log relaxers
- I have a zen garden that leads to the secret beach but I am thinking of turning it into a little market alley as I have seen some cool examples on reddit and twitter which I am quite inspired by
- I have a viewing platform with the binoculars to look out over the sea, and a small marketplace on the level below.
- My museum area is a WIP, as I am unsure how I want it to look, and how to connect it to the entrance area at my airport (which is also a WIP)
- I have a little area to park bikes and scooters, with bike racks scattered here and there around my island
- Also have stepping stones surrounded by waterfalls which lead to the camp grounds. I'm trying to design a tiki bar around the beach next to the campsite but have run out of steam and custom design slots lmao
- also have my lighthouse and a little secluded beach area with a campfire, for hanging out and listening to the waves!
- Finally I have my house, tucked away in between two cliffs, with a small waterfall and pond, as well as a little garden plot for growing whatever !

I think that's everything - It took a while to get it to the stage it is right now, but i'm actually really content with it (which is saying something, given how dismissive I can be with things I make).
