I've been plot resetting for Genji for three days and on the third day, I got a friend to help me because I was so sick of constantly resetting and she accidentally clicked on my mayor's name and Isabelle appeared on the screen and we both flipped and turned off my 3ds and we decided to keep resetting but his plot didn't want to move from where it was (which was in the middle of a path) and then when 6am came the next day, his house was already built and we were really confused since Isabelle didn't technically load my town.

By that I mean it NEVER said, "Preparing your town. Please wait." The moment we saw Isabelle on the screen, I turned off my 3ds but Genji's plot still became permanent.

Was selecting my mayor already what made it permanent (without it saying it loaded my town) and that it already counted or something else?

I'm honestly upset by this since he's my dreamie. :(

it doesn't need to say "preparing your town"
i think just clicking your mayor will make the plot permanent

I'm soooo sorry to hear that happened to you. The EXACT same thing happened to me with Dizzy :( I accidentally clicked on Isabelle after I'd been plot resetting for a couple hours, and she was about to go into the "Preparing town" screen but I shut off my 3DS as soon as I noticed. Unfortunately his house was locked into position despite her never loading my town up, and he moved into the worst possible spot, right in the middle of a bush path, in front of a bridge, almost on top of Re-Tail.
Dizzy was my dream villager too, and I had to TT loads to sort it all out. Luckily I was able to re-home him in my weeding town, and now I'll be slowly cycling without TTing to get him back. If you really can't make Genji's house position work, then maybe you could always do the 16-villager cycle to get him back? I hope it works out for you, I totally feel your pain!

yep true, maybe something simple but when I start plot resetting I put a post-it paper on a part of my top screen saying : NEW SAVE FILE :)

patriceflanders, I do the same thing with the post it note!!! lol. I started doing it after I accidentally loaded my mayor. Since then, I have never had an accident.

Oh my, I never knew that just clicking your mayor's file was enough to lock everything into place for that day. I always assumed she had to load your town first. Makes me wonder what exactly she's preparing if your town has already loaded by the time she does that, though.

Sorry to hear that happened, OP. I bet your friend feels bad about it, too. I know I would. :(

I do the same as well! After accidentally plotting Snake right in the middle of a path I learned my lesson.

:) :)

simple but it helps me think about what I'm doing :) :)

AAhh thank you so much for the replies everyone.Lesson learned that I really need to be more careful. We just got so tired of plot resetting so itnwas a slip of the hand.
I plan on getting my friend to hold him for me until I finish mycycle for him. uvu

Does it really happen even by just selecting your mayor? I could've sworn I've accidentally done that before, but immediately corrected myself and everything was fine. Maybe not.

That makes me terribly nervous, hahaha. Sorry that happened. I have a habit of automatically mashing the buttons to start the game so I'll have to extra careful when plot resetting.

I did this once. I accidently clicked on my mayor's name by accident and I immediately turned off my 3ds. I was literally scared and nervous when I clicked a new save file, but luckily the house plot did not become permanent and I was able to plot reset that villager's house plot.
