Weird cool glitch, or intentional feature?

I accidentally made a cool glowing hole in the ground! My pockets were full when I dug up the money from the glowing spot on the ground - I chose to swap the money with another item rather than re-bury it and my character didn't cover the hole back up - so now I have this and I sort of don't want to cover it up haha!

Don't think I've heard of this before but pretty cool! It won't break my game, will it? I imagine if I don't cover it, it'll be gone by tomorrow anyway - but haven't read anything about this happening before, so I'm interested to hear! My game/console aren't modded in any way

This isn't a glitch, the game does this naturally.

If you cover it up it will revert back to a normal hole, you can't dig it back up to get the glowing spot again.

Yeah, it’s normal. It’ll be there all day if you don’t cover it up.

If you bury bells in the glowing spot, a money tree will grow there. You'll get a new glowing spot each day.

If you plant 10,000 bells, you're guaranteed to get 30,000 bells on the money tree.

I usually like to put 30,000 bells in the glowing spot, as a lot of the time for me I've gotten 90,000 bells back. Very useful as I don't participate in the stalk market apart from buying a small amount of turnips each week lol (like 10 or 20)

Thanks all! Yeah figured it would be gone once I cover it up, but it's so pretty haha! With money trees, do they have to be planted in that spot to grow or can they be planted anywhere? Cheers

That's intentional. Bury a few thousand bells - i mean like 10,000. You'll get 30,000 bells if you bury 10,000. Money trees are cool!

you have to bury the bells in the glowing spots, but afterwards, you can dig them up with your shovel and plant them anywhere c:

They have to be planted in the glowing spot, but if it's somewhere you don't like you can shovel it once you plant it and take it somewhere else without removing the money effect.

Awesome thanks all! Anyone know the best amount to bury - like I assume I can't get more than 3 bags of 99,999 (or maybe 99,000?) so what's the best amount to bury for the most amount of bells without burying more than necessary please?

It is best to bury 10k bells. You can bury more, but the chances of getting more than 10k (times 3) back is low. Iirc it’s a 70% chance of of only getting 10k vs 30% of getting the amount you buried. So 10k gets you more profit in the long run!
