Weed Badges

I have been wanting to get the three weed badges that Phineas gives you but I have had a beautiful ordinance in my town since day one and I don't want to change it because I don't want to risk my flowers.
I was wondering if you can get the weed badges by plucking the weeds in someone else's town?

I don't think clovers count, considering they don't count on weeding day.

On my main town's mayor i got the gold weeding badge by going to other people's cycling towns and picking the weeds >.<

Wilted flowers count towards your total. I have a Weeding town with just a few Perfect Orange trees.
Started the town on January 1st 2012, got the gardening shop unlocked and than time travelled 2 weeks at a time. Kept doing it until I reached another year. Usually get 760 weeds. During the time travelling I do go out and pull the clovers and dig up the gyroids. I buried the fossils and pitfall seeds on the beach so they didn't get in the way of weeds.

Clover does count for the badge. I have 2 towns, 2 3ds. I would TT in my 2nd town to get weeds, but I had the mayor pull the clover so more weeds could spawn. One day Phineas showed up to give the mayor the bronze weeding badge and they had ONLY pulled clover. Of course, 4-leaf clover don't count.
But clover does not count on weeding day.

To answer my own question, I TT'd an undetermined amount of times and pulled nothing but clover. Phineas gave me the bronze Weed Hunter Badge- so, yes, Clover does count towards the badge.

I don't recall a TV show but you're right about the resemblance. The movie "Up in smoke" comes to mind.
