Web Hosting for Online KoL-Style Game?

Just figured I'd ask if anyone knows a good web host that can handle managed dedicated servers. I'm talking to a couple of places right now, but it never hurts to have a good reference.

I'm talking to 1and1.com (my current host) and hosting.com, plus I've got feelers out at one or two other places. But if anyone knows of a capable web host, now's the time to share.

A friend of mine was asking about that. He's working on an online game similar to Kingdom of Loathing, if you know what that is.

Any suggestions?

1and1 is a bad host... I can't recommend any dedicated server plans with hosts though because I've never looked in to it. He might want to look around webhostingjury.com.

But I don't think he should start with that right off the bat. Start small and go from there.

He did. The problem is that he has a little over 3100 players, the majority of whom signed up in the last three days. His current server is not up to the strain.

this is kinda off-topic, but what's the game like? is it an MMORPG or something? cause I've never heard of KoL. If there is one, a link to your friend's game's website would be awesome.
