How often do you send out letters? Do you actually write something out or just put down key words? What kind of presents do you give your villagers or do you give none at all? Have you noticed positive changes in your villagers if you send them often?
Any tips for writing letters? I'm just curious to know what you guys do!
I've begun to try and send some out every day to my villagers in hopes of bumping up their friendships bit by bit. I usually write down sentences like: "How are you? You're such a good friend! Great weather we're having!". I try to differentiate what I put in my letters but it's always coherent texts. I also attach gifts I think they'd like. I used to do fruit until they started selling it back to me. Now I send shirts I think they'd look cute in or furniture that might go nicely with their homes.
I usually put the same message in every letter I send out in a single day. It's usually a politely-worded threat or bribe so that the game thinks I'm saying something nice when I'm not.
I write letters and attach gifts at least 4 times a week. But with 9 animals, it's getting a bit difficult to collect things I think will look good for them. ^^; I've noticed that this game doesn't seem to have the key word system anymore. I can write anything I want and they never write back saying "I have no idea what your last letter said." And they send back gifts about 85% of the time. Letter writing in New Leaf has become a lot of fun!
I send all sorts of stuff in my letters. I've sent out a ranking system for the town with number lamps attached for their placement and a run down on their score. xD I've started to inform them of events like a proper mayor (and the lack of them seeing as that's all they ever talk about!) And I spur on their gossip.
Fav letter I ever sent was a limerick to Muffy rhyming her name into a story of shearing her wool off. x3
I really try to write letters on a daily basis and try to write to each villager and not skip anyone. What I do to have a good inventory of things to send is that I keep the gifts they send me that I don't really like and just send it to other villagers. Or I just send fruit.
But I usually send the same message about hanging out later or something.
But I feel bad because my villagers will randomly send me letters when I forget to and one said something about them appreciating me so much so they bought me something!
The first letter I send them I put something nice. Because they show it back to you once in awhile. I learned it the hard way. I sent Bunnie a first letter saying "cherries" and that's all she shows me! >< Sometimes if a villager sells an item I gave them (gave Marine a piece of lovely which is her theme) and she put it up for Re-Tail, I bought it, attached it, and wrote "TAKE IT BACK!!".
