5. Don't randomly take out your game card while you're playing!

That just made me think... has anyone actually lost there game by dumping? Most say it does, but I have yet to find someone of the internet that has.
^
I have done this countless times.

Lovely. ._.
Well, for me once my dog knocked me and because my hands were in a weird position it knocked the game out. I almost lost my town, but luckily I just got the saving complete thing come up...who would do that?!
Some people load all their files onto the Sd card to dupe/hack/whatever. Certain factors need to be changed in folders, but if done incorrectly, however, it can lead to corruption or gameplay being messed up.When I read the opening post I thought there is going to be a lot of angry denial about this - particularly about duping and resetting.
Data corruption happens when the game is saving - but can it happen at other times?
Duping - never done, but I take it that the wifi switch is flipped at a certain point in the save process, which to my mind must carry some risk.
Resetting - I have done to get the Resetti centre (so the game means you to reset at least once) and it can happen cos of power failure. Normally it does not happen at the same time the game is saving - so in my mind it does not carry so much of a risk.
I would reset if say I sold a gold tool by mistake (haven't done it yet!) or destroyed a rare hybrid.
But I wouldn't do too often or regularly - the reason is I read in the 3ds manual that continual resetting can cause problems - can't remember if it actually said data corruption and I can't now find the sentence in the manual (which is pretty long - nor can I remember whether it was the original 3ds manual or a later 3dsXL one (I'm in the UK so that also may be a factor).
Sorry, but the sentence surprised me when I read it, hence it stuck in my mind and has made me somewhat wary of resetting.
The BigJC77777 did post a fair amount about the game crashing when it first came out (Japanese version) and this was mainly sorted with the US & Europe/Aus releases.
And I think he also talked about data corruption (sorry this is all from memory, he posted here & on AXA forums) One of his solutions was to keep saving to a min - saving being the most common point for corruption.
This is very hard and one I've not been able to get round - the game does save at a lot of places, to my mind a lot of them unneccesary - when you visit HHA, when you go to save letters at the post office, when you visit Tortimer Island, have wifi visitors.
The game should be and does seem to be fairly robust and able to weather most of this, the player has to decide what level of risk there is.
Folders - do you mean putting the game within a folder on the 3ds? Something I've not thought of doing. Do you mean the cart, the digital version or both.
I have physical versions of the game and I tend to leave the cart in the console most of the time - just to save wear and tear/dust as presumably over a few years that could increase the risk of the game no longer working.
Who doesn't ship them?I love you. Marry me pls
But not if you don't ship John x Sherlock and Merlin x Arthur
The 'bad egg' thing didn't happen in X/Y, to my knowledge. (The one person who got it wasn't because he hacked, but because of a glitch, I believe.)
If I recall correctly, someone deleted a file on their 3ds which caused the entire system to stop working. (I'm pretty sure the folder was empty.)
I don't know if this has already been made etc. etc. etc..
Corruption is actually pretty common in Animal Crossing, here are some ways to avoid it!
1. Whilst saving, DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER BUTTON!!!
2. Don't duplicate items! This can corrupt save data!
3. Don't mess around with folders if you don't know what you are doing, this can lead to corruption.
4. DON'T QUIT WITHOUT SAVING TOO MANY TIMES!!!! The 3DS/2DS systems both keep track of when you don't save, this will mess up the save data, then your town is gone forever.
Corruptions do happen randomly, like you play it normal, next time, it could be gone, but this should slim your chances of it happening.
solution: i'm just not even going to worry about it and go about my business.
