I don't know if this has already been made etc. etc. etc..

Corruption is actually pretty common in Animal Crossing, here are some ways to avoid it!

1. Whilst saving, DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER BUTTON!!!
2. Don't duplicate items! This can corrupt save data!
3. Don't mess around with folders if you don't know what you are doing, this can lead to corruption.
4. DON'T QUIT WITHOUT SAVING TOO MANY TIMES!!!! The 3DS/2DS systems both keep track of when you don't save, this will mess up the save data, then your town is gone forever.

Corruptions do happen randomly, like you play it normal, next time, it could be gone, but this should slim your chances of it happening.

Im guessing you're worried because you quit without saving to get villagers out that decided to stay?xD.Don't worry

lol, I'm not worried as I don't do it that much, it's just a little unnerving.

The first three seem correct/pretty much confirmed by unfortunate ACers, but the fourth is up for debate/is unconfirmed. I've plot reset and I have my town intact. I'd remove the fourth or say that it hasn't been confirmed, because it does seem a bit misleading.

I guess the chance with #4 is super slim? At least for me, I've done load up, go home, close so many times now, nothing big happens (yet lol). I have probably done it at least 500 times now (plot reset horrors, and this is total of all my games resetting).

Corruption is more common in New Leaf than other Animal Crossings?

The second way to avoid corruption had been proven incorrect before, I believe. The second option does not corrupt your town.

I actually reset without saving quite a bit, but thankfully the game hasn't corrupted on me yet.

You have to do it a lot, like every now and then is OK.

I'd ammend that to don't mess with 3DS folders at all.
I copied the entire data of my SD card over to my laptop to back it up, after my digital games started loading really slowly suddenly. ~thinking if the SD card died I would still have most of my downloaded games. Put my SD card back in my 3DS and my data had wiped. I never even opened the folders.

Both 2 & 4 havent been confirmed.
And 2 started as a rumor

It actually has been proven by Nintendo that 2 does not corrupt files. C:

. _ .

Well, this isn't really that helpful. Most if not all people save before quitting.
I would say the main cause of corruption is if you pop your game card out while saving, or if you experience malfunction in programming. Some people's games have corrupted for no reason at all.

Yeah, but tons of people also plot reset. Still I wouldn't worry, I googled it and apparently it's rare.

The first three (and not taking out your game card) are correct as far as I know. You also should be careful about game card and avoid dropping or damaging it in some way though that goes without saying or should.

I don't believe that quitting without saving will corrupt the game. The 3DS keeping track of it (I'd never heard of it doing that...) sounds like a strange reason for the game to corrupted because I don't believe the 3DS or the game itself would corrupt your game on purpose just because you... what? Used a feature that the game makes possible? That would be weirdly passive-aggressive and if they really wanted to force you to save they'd just implement auto-saves.

It hasn't been confirmed whether that corrupts your game, plenty of people quit without saving very often, especially cyclers and plot resetters, and most don't encounter any issues. Some do. If someone quits without saving and it their game is corrupted when they next try to play it doesn't mean that resetting caused it, it could be due to many other things, or there just being a small chance of resetting causing it and those who experienced that just having bad luck.

all this did was cause me to be more stressed out about corruption, despite the fact that i only save without quitting a lot. i guess it's a good thing i have a digital copy? i don't know. i don't knooow.
