Bells

So I havn't unlocked the island yet (for some reason and I've had the game for a while so idk haha) and I was just wondering if there were other ways of earning bells fairly quickly.

I just find fishing and catching bugs isn't the fastest way, plus, I see almost no bugs during the winter!

All tips are welcome! :)

I think something may be wrong if you haven't unlocked the Island. A few days after starting a town, Tortimer should show up and after you talk to him, the Island will be available the next day. I've never heard of it taking more than like two or three days for it to show up.

As for money-making tips: If you are willing to sell some TBT, do it in the marketplace. That's how I get all my bells.. beetle farming gets old preeety fast ;)

Otherwise, if you're looking for in-game stuff, turnips can be VERY lucrative when buying low and selling high.

Yea Idk why I havn't unlocked the island yet! I restarted my whole game and its been several weeks. Thanks for the tip though!

If you haven't unlocked the island yet, then I'd say selling turnips and selling your perfect fruits at another town (especially at a premium with the Bell Boom ordinance enacted) are your best bets. You can also make a nice profit by selling things like ores and non-native perfect fruit at your flea market, though this can take some time. It's easiest to sell things there by offering it at four times Reese's buying price minus one bell (ex: if Reese would pay 2000 bells for item, sell it at 7999 bells). It IS possible to sell things at a slightly higher price than that, but at that point it's no longer guaranteed that a villager will buy them. Also, villagers won't pay more than 9999 bells for an item at the flea market.

Helpful! Thank you!

Have you paid off your second house loan yet (the one that costs 39,800 bells)? That's what triggers Tortimer's appearance.

The only way to get Tortimer to come and to unlock the island is to get a 100% approval rating. I'm sure you've done this, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't have him down at the dock. I'd double check to be sure he hasn't randomly popped up somewhere.

If you have a friend who doesn't mind, sell your perfect fruit in their town, I sell them in my town and I still get a nice chunk of change.

I never had 100% approval and still got the island unlocked. It was because I paid off my loans that trigger it.
Something that I shouldn't have done in my harvest town. The villagers started moving away and I needed them to be locked in.
I had to transfer the money and perfect fruit and do a restart. In my new harvest town all players live in a tent and don't speak to the villagers. No one has moved out and it's been 16 months. I just send my mayor from my real town to talk to them.

tbh enter some bell giveaways! i entered 2 in 2 days and made 10 million bells.

It's the second house upgrade. That's also how you start to get villagers to move out.

As for the OP, making money out of nothing is hard. I recommend vigorously river or ocean fishing for your first few bells (to get the island, which I see you've done). Then, go to the island after 7 PM and catch the rare bugs on the palm trees, and sell them to Reese. 400k is perfectly doable in 30 minutes. After your first 1m bells or so, invest in turnips and begin searching for good prices on the ACNL Online / Train Station subforum.

You could sell your tbt for in game bells. c:
That's what I do because I am too lazy to earn my in game bells by myself. xD
For every 100 tbt you can get like 5-8 million in game bells from someone who is willing to buy!
Which most people are on the TBT Marketplace forum. :D

I've been working on my bug catching badge. Over the last 3 days I've made 3.5 million bells from the island.
Grow a lot of perfect fruit in your town. Look on the trading board for your perfect fruit on premium. A locker full can get you over 10 million bells.

since you unlocked the island good luck. you can also sell your tbt for igb, turnips (with those with high turnips prices), sell popular villagers, selling hybrids/gardening items, etc. mostly what everyone has mentioned.
