Is there a difference between a villager bowing or waving when you leave their homes? Like if you don't have a relationship with a villager and leave their home they don't do anything... if they bow when you leave is that lower than waving? Is waving the highest goodbye they can give you? Does waving mean good friendship???

Any and all answers are appreciated, thank you!!

No, it depends on personality! I know normals and lazies bow, and I think the rest wave. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If they do neither it means you didn't talk to them before leaving their house.

I think the waving is cute, but the bowing is so elegant.

I love it when they bow :) it's so elegant. Anyway it does depend on personality as to how they say bye to you. I love seeing Stitches bow as I leave, being a cute little bear it looks so funny :)

I love it when they bow, I wish I could see other personalities do it too ^^

I prefer the bowing, as it seems much more formal and cute. Plus you're the mayor of the town, so it just shows that they have a bit more respect for you y'know? since they usually tend to treat the mayor as they would a resident and not much of a mayor. I think it's adorable especially when more oriental looking villagers do it for example Pekoe. It just fits her really well, for obvious reasons. But I do like that they added this feature in as a whole because it makes you feel like the villagers actually notice your presence and don't just ignore it like they did in past games when you turned to leave.

normals and lazies bow and everyone else waves.

i think in japan it's common to bow to people as a greeting, so it wouldn't be surprising if they all bowed in the japanese game
