Was your first campsite visitor a smug villager?

I am completely baffled by how many people I know, both online and in real life, that had gotten a smug villager in their campsite — while I got Truffles, a deranged peppy villager.

What gives? Am I an outlier, or is it just more common to receive a smug?

In fact, I think it might've been Graham!

It wouldn't surprise me if it was programmed that way, like how your first islanders are sisterly/jock (seriously, has anyone gotten anything else?)

Yah, I'm not 100% sure, since it's been awhile. But I'm, like, pretty sure. The more I think about it, the more I think it was Graham. I remember being excited to see him, because I had him in New Leaf- and I seem to be one of the, like, ten people who like him

I will shamelessly go off topic just to say that when I time traveled into Graham in my campsite recently, I had the same reaction. He was also in my New Leaf — and he also moved away shortly before I found him in New Horizons!

I believe my first tour one was Merry in this game, but I'm 99% sure it was Marina in my previous! I don't remember the other two from my previous town, though, I restarted after a day.

BUT. My first three islanders (the ones you place the plots for) were: Megan, Erik, and Merry. I'm POSITIVE about that.

I did! Everything else checked out. I started with a jock and uchi, and then met a lazy, peppy, and normal on the island tours. Odd!

I'm just so stunned how many people hate him, he's so cute! He only recently left my current island (I got Julian, and I do like Julian more, and I didn't need two smug villagers) And then they talk about how rude he is, but love Raymond and Julian, and it's like... they all have the same personality, though.

hmm. the guidebook says that the campsite has a higher chance of getting a visitor of a personality type that u dont currently have, so maybe ur not rly supposed to get a smug villager first but it's a more likely chance. maybe there's like a hierarchy of how the game prioritizes personalities? so in this imaginary situation, maybe the hierarchy is like uchi 1st, jock 2nd, lazy 3rd, normal 4th, peppy 5th, smug 6th, etc. in terms of what it puts in a campsite? but even then u already had a peppy and u got a peppy in the campsite so maybe ur luck was in the percentage that was the lower chance if that makes sense.

yea!! theyre sisterly and jock because theyre actually hyped to live in a tent and rough it out. the other personalities prefer houses. and i wouldnt take what i guessed as fact !! the guidebook doesnt mention anything besides the "more likely to get a villager in ur campsite of a personality that u dont have". the rest is just me guessing but its the only way that this situation makes sense to me

He's since left my island, but I was so displeased when I found him camping. Tbh I think it was punishment for resetting.

Hmm. It would make sense, though, if the first additional three ('cause they come before campsite, right? it's been awhile) were normal, peppy, and lazy... if it WAS "more likely" that would put a limit on what it could be, because then you'd have a total of 5/8 personalities. But, I'm also wondering if the first campsite visitor is different, and will always be smug? 'Cause I have yet to here of someone getting, say, a snooty villager as a first camper!
