Was/Is ACNL in game music more relaxing than ACNH ?

I am wondering, if ACNLs music sounds more relaxing to you than the ones in ACNH, specially at night time. I have been thinking about it a lot lately, since with all the covid situation I have been playing the game like MUCH more and last night i felt like the music was going to give me a light headache so i decided to turn the volume of the game down and put a random youtube video with ACNL night music and it was so much better!!!

I dont know if it is all just in my head or you actually prefer ACNL or even are in disagreement with me and prefer ACNH in game music.

Very curious to see what you guys have to say about it.

10000000% agree that New Leaf’s hourly music was better. MUCH better. I still miss it. That’s actually a brilliant idea, to play NH while enjoying the NL soundtrack.
I find that the NH music just isn’t memorable or melodic or unique enough. It’s hard to explain. There was more of a mood change with the different hours in NL. I enjoyed the transition a lot.

ACNL's music as a whole is more relaxing to me. But the jazzy night tracks in ACNH are also really calming to me. Then again, I love both classical and smooth jazz.

I often play animal crossing when I am anxious. The music during the day in NH is a nightmare because it is way too "happy" and noisy, I don't know how to describe it but it feels really unserious and sunny and like in a circus or something?? Whereas the NL music is classy and subtle but quite unique. The night music in NL in calming and really pretty, where NH is neither relaxing, nor calming or even quite memorable so overall I like the NL waaay better and the mood it gives is just top tier.

Tbh I just think people don't like new music in general lol.
People liked the original better than Wild World's new sound track
then people wanted Wild World instead of New Leaf
and now we all love New Leaf xD

Personally I think each sound track suits the vibe and time period of the game. Though switching between the soundtracks would be nice, as I have some good memories with old tunes

I will admit though, out of all songs in all soundtracks, despite all memories, I only really think the Roost + New Leaf's 7 PM, 1 AM and 4 AM songs are actually beautiful. Despite the charm from the older games

Both have relaxing themes, but ACNL has more relaxing themes overall. I think that’s why I prefer NL’s ost.

I totally feel you, i really feel ACNL music was some what harmonic it was just so easy going and it flowed with the day so well like so naturally without trying to create a mood or a certain atmosphere i guess.

Now im not saying that ACNH is bad, however, I would have rather had ACNL music during the night in this game too

Maybe it's also because ACNL played a huge part when I was going through really hard times in my life but I recall the music being amazing and I still miss it now in NH. Lol, i guess its a thing of adaptation now, since we spend so many hours and day in the game certain sounds become familiar and and we, i guess, fixate on those familiar sounds. So i suppose which just all have to get accustom

I get you!!! I felt the same way when Wild World's sountrack got replaced

Exactly!! For me is during the afternoon/evening, that's when I arrive home from work and I want something calm and relaxing and I just feel the game pushes me to to be active when I want to relax and take it easy after work

i deffs pfrefer NL's music!! i think thats probably because i grew up with new leaf though. in time im sure new horizon's music will be just as memorable and nostalgic for now, though, the 2pm theme haunts me.... so annoying.... lol
also, i agree that with the next game, people will probably say NH's music was better. i remember in new leaf a common complaint was how dull and repetitive the dialogue was, and now people are saying the exact same about nh and praising new leaf for its dialogue.

I still prefer WW's OST compared to NL/NH. NH's is far worse out of all the main series games so far though. They all sound so similar and just kinda blend into each other.

Thats true! i have a few areas where i want a very specific atmosphere so i have put discreetly some sound tracks here and there to recreate that feeling that i want the area to transmit . Really like that too !

I can't remember the music from WW all that well. But I do like PG and NL's music. NH music isn't just doing it for me. It's alright music on its own, but I don't feel like most of the hourly themes work well for an AC game or capture that charm that the other titles have.

Some of the music feels like it should go on longer but it doesn't loop properly like it's incomplete. And I think that's what disorients me the most about the hourly themes.

I do think New Leaf has a stronger soundtrack. It's a close second to the GC game for me, only because the latter has nostalgia factor. I just think that New leaf did a really good job of incorporating the game's motif without stating it outright. New Horizons' tracks all sound "samey" because the motif is almost always played the same as the main theme each time, and on the same instrument.

NH has a great soundtrack as well, don't get me wrong. I just wish there was more variance, and that they might have made more use of real instruments as the focus. The tracks with the upright bass and brass are the best, and I can't get over how amazing the updated Egg Day and Halloween themes are.

Also I am so happy that they made Animal City an aircheck! Every time that KK comes I always have him play it live for me.

I'm not a fan of NH's soundtrack.

Some of it is so loud and distracting, that it is ruining gameplay when trying to fish, for example.

You need silence or something softer when fishing.

It's one reason I quit fishing completely.

I also don't play the game at 2pm for the sake of my switch's safety, should I hurl it at a wall or something.

That music makes me soooo irritated. >..<

I'd prefer NL's soundtrack, or WW's, or an option to turn background music down, or off, because background music belongs in the background and shouldn't dominate the gameplay or be so obnoxiously loud.
