Warning Thread

Rolling your snowballs on pathways will make them smaller. Pushing them between a narrow space or against obstacles will squash them to nothing. Also building a snowman on top of a flower not a good idea (Good thing it was only a yellow rose)

Don't worry. I'm not trying to argue either (just to clear that up). I'm explaining what has happened and defending my case, so no hard feelings.

Anyway, as for the recognition thing, this exact same friend has Walker and Zell in her town. Neither of them have recognized me. I took some photos of my encounter with Walker and Zell as well. I spoke with Poncho in LaurinaMN's town when I visited her too, and he didn't recognize me since he wasn't the same Poncho that moved out of my town.

I believed exactly what you believed before yesterday which is why I made the thread because I was really confused as to why he'd be moving into her town after so long. I'm thinking it could have something to do with her being new to the game and only having me as a friend. She doesn't have a campsite, so I would be her only way of getting a 10th villager. I'm not confirming that's why which is why I didn't put it in my initial post, but I do think what I have posted is solid. I don't "think" it's true because it actually happened, and I was just as confused by it as anyone would be.

Thanks c: No hard feelings at all. Just very interesting to see something I (and many other users) believed to be a rule proven wrong. Which I guess is part of the point of this thread to start with :D

I just want to clarify that it's when you roll your snowball over places with no snow it shrinks. Which includes paths, because there will be no snow in places where there would be no grass.
I'm not writing to correct you, I just want to make sure that there is no confusion :)

The King Tut mask does NOT move away any villagers! However, it can be used to fall into the river.
Well-known warning: If you do not want a villager (in general) and you travel a lot, turn off streetpass to avoid getting villagers from the void.
Ignore the villagers you want to stay, and talk to the ones that you want to leave!
For new players: REPLANT the perfect fruit, do not sell it, or it will be hard to get a new one without multiplayer.

Great thread idea but needs close monitoring I think... As anybody can post what they believe is "true" or a "warning", which may not be.

I was thinking to add a section where there are confirmed warnings and ones that need more proof or cannot be identified as true yet, or something like that. But that's what I was worried about when I first made the thread.

Here's something.

When you go to the international or more local island, people there can scam you. A guy did this to me:

He set up a tour, but didn't sit down, making it impossible for me to ask to go home until the tour was completed. He also would not sit down to go on the tour. He basically held me hostage and said he wouldn't let me off the island unless I gave him 400,000 bells. I waited for 2 1/2 hours for him to give up, but he wouldn't. In the end I had to turn off my 3ds to escape

Warn others about things they might not have known, or things that are rumors that should be squashed.

I think we need this just so people know what to and what not to do.

If you have 8 villagers and adopt one, don't adopt the next at the same time. Make sure you see their plot before you adopt the next villager.

DIVAAAAAAAAAAAAA
IM SO SORRY
I DIDNT KNOW
AUGH

Sending letters to Villagers increases your friendship with them as does talking to them.

Not sure if the letter part is true but talking to them is.

Sadly, this is true. Some players do hold others hostage for bells or rare furniture (mermaid/cabana series).
They won't let you go until you either agree or turn off your 3DS!
Though if you do get a person like that and you can hit the green people thing at the bottom of the screen.
You can and should block that person so it doesn't happen again.

I can say it's true because my friend was in the room with me playing on her 3DS when someone on the island held her and 2 other people hostage by setting up an island tour.

You could've flipped the wifi switch.

Another one - TTing forward does not rot turnips (as long as you stay within the current week) but TTing backwards even a minute does.

You could've flipped the wifi switch.

Or you could've trolled them c:

I suggest not to turn off your 3ds EVER before saving in any situation {unless you're resetting}

for example, when i opened my home screen with my game open to add somebody, after i closed my friend list it froze for about 10 minutes straight, then it went back to homescreen. My irl friend had her game corrupted after she closed her 3DS since she got tired of waiting.

Be careful about placing PWPs ANYWHERE near a bridge if you plan on demolishing it and replacing it with a new one! Bridges are extremely finicky and you may have to demolish the nearby projects just to put a bridge back in the old spot. The same goes for villager houses and permanent PWPs, so be watch out!

Just because you have 8 villagers and someone is moving in the next day does not mean a random move-in will not come. Astrid had come to my town, and pushed another villager's move-in back by one day. Don't think I've seen this before.

Ignore the villagers you want to stay, and talk to the ones that you want to leave!

How come 2 of my villagers whom I ignored have moved out, whilst the ones I talk to every day until they are bored are still here to stay?

Perhaps it's useful if you make an index for this thread or a collection of warnings. :)

Do not try to cheat Nintendo by having 2 SD cards, to be able to have 2 towns...
Spoiler alert...
It does not work.....
I?m baffled by how many people are doing that

Tip, when a person on the island holds you hostage, drop a random furniture piece or about 2000 bells and then talk to Leilani and maybe you'll have enough time to escape.
