TIP THREAD: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?112355-Tips-Thread

I think we need this just so people know what to and what not to do.

-Things here are confirmed things that are proven true. Example: Grass deteriorates under pathways.

-If you have 8 villagers and adopt one, don't adopt the next at the same time. Make sure you see their plot before you adopt the next villager.

-It's probably common knowledge already, but paths do NOT prevent grass deterioration. Grass underneath the path deteriorates just as fast as grass not under a path.

-No matter how many days/weeks/months you tt BACK in the game, it only counts as one day

-May seem to be a minor thing, but don't shoot down balloon presents over tiles or thick plots of flowers. They vanish. Also, placing too many tiles around trees will absorb their fruit.

-Do NOT rush when saving or loading a game file. Let it load/save fully before closing/powering off your 3DS or this could corrupt your save data.

-Don't try to create multiple towns on different SD Cards if you have the digital version of the game because you WILL corrupt your save data and lose your town!

-When you roll your snowball over places with no snow it shrinks. Which includes paths, because there will be no snow in places where there would be no grass.

-You can get held hostage or scammed in Club Tortimer. Flip the wifi switch or troll them to escape.

-Be careful about placing PWPs ANYWHERE near a bridge if you plan on demolishing it and replacing it with a new one! Bridges are extremely finicky and you may have to demolish the nearby projects just to put a bridge back in the old spot.

-Warning Do not soak your animal crossing game in liquid nitrogen.

Things here are things that need to be confirmed or proven true. Example: Voided villagers are gone forever. That might not be true - but if 15 people say it is and have proof, it gets moved. If you can confirm that something in the "not sure" section is false, tell me to put a -1 for that. If it reaches -15, it's off the list.

-Getting a villager from someone and campsite in the SAME DAY will cause the villager to glitch. No house plot, but they're on your map. [1/15 can confirm this]

-Also, it turns out that once a villager is voided, he or she is in the void forever and could potentially move into a friend's town that you visit at any given time regardless of wi-fi and StreetPass frequency. [0/15 can confirm this]

-Jogging counts with grass wear. [0/15 can confirm this]

Also, keep in mind that there is no evidence proving that campers in another town can move into yours after constant badgering. People have said it's "super rare", but I don't think anyone has ever posted evidence. If someone could confirm this, that'd be super.

All learned by me the hard way...

BTW...GREAT thread!

This one might be obvious, but planting flowers in worn-down areas only slightly helps the grass to grow back over time. Fertilizer works completely.

Wow! Those are all great tips.
I'll have to remember them.

This thread is awesome!

------------------------------------
Here is a little information that my friend told me for when I get my new town started.

1. Pattern planting flower does get hybrids but but it's rare.
Use the Pattern below for planting if you do use Pattern Planting to get Hybrids.

X_X
_X_
X_X

Also, Plant in Rows of Color to insure Hybrids.

2. Once you can make Projects. Use the Sign Post project to Hold spaces for the Projects you want so Villagers do not move into that Area!

Example: Bridges - Sign Posts on both sides on the river were you want the New Bridge will make sure no one Sets-up to close to the Bridge Area.

really great thread and awesome warnings. i don't have too much to contribute in the way of warnings but maybe this tip will be useful to someone?

if you harvest perfect fruit and the tree dies and leaves you with a rotten fruit, instead of paying to get rid of it or using a garbage, you can plant it and dig it back up.

Hmm, might be an idea to add to the OP so in the future when (hopefully) this thread gets a load more tips, people can easily find what they're looking for c:

This thread is a great idea btw Zanessa!

I probably will..

Next warn:
Your ground is not a second storage place. You will never get a good town rating if you throw stuff on the ground because your closet is full.

This is not true ._. We already had a bunch of members debunk the fertilizer.

Agreed.

The thing that is true though is that, yes, people used to think that planting flowers and watering them in a dirt spot would make grass grow. That's NOT what makes grass grow. Not walking on it will make it grow back. It doesn't matter if flowers are there or not, it doesn't matter if you water anything. Just DON'T walk on that spot.

However, some spots are ALWAYS dirt spots and grass will never grow there. They are the same spots that were dirt spots when you first created your town. People generally don't remember where those spots are by the time they're worrying about grass though, so get confused.

Great thread idea but needs close monitoring I think... As anybody can post what they believe is "true" or a "warning", which may not be.

I'm not sure about the wifi pool statement above, just cos it's not been widely reported. Many of us here believe that the pool is dumped once u connect with someone. Of course, that may not be completely true either- I'm just saying it needs more testing c:

Yup I read your thread and I'm not saying what you said is not true, but it's just that this is the first time anybody has reported it. I don't think anyone will ever be able to provide concrete evidence as to how the wifi pool works, so just to keep an open mind.

My post here is just saying that it doesn't matter if you connect with someone over wi-fi after the fact or StreetPass other people because I've done both and Quillson still moved into a friend's town after all of that happened. Since Quillson moved from my town, I can say:

1. I did the Halloween thing with a friend.
2. I've picked up Gwen, Marshal, Rizzo, Flora, and Flo.
3. Someone has taken Walker from me.
4. I've StreetPassed people at the mall.
5. I've StreetPassed people at my workplace.
6. I've collected petition signatures from friends (including LaurinaMN here).

All of this among other things. So what I've posted is true since none of what was listed above has affected Quillson who was voided over a month ago.

I don't know exactly how the villager pool works, but my post is at least true since wi-fi and StreetPass can still happen and that there is still a chance that someone you visit will receive your voided villager even after a long time.

But, is it possible that after you void a villager, and meet them again in anybody's village, that they will "recognise" you despite them not being YOUR villager per se? Just throwing it out there that there may be other explanations. Of course I've not tried this so I could be completely wrong :P

Dembonz I hope you're not taking offense to my answers, just having a little friendly debate :)
