I think this thread should be locked. It's just a rumour and is scaring people from visiting the island - a place where I have always had a good time, sure, i've met a few weirdos on there but all you do is exit and visit again till you find nice people! People are so insecure about visiting the island! Get over it and have fun!

As for the claim of hackers, I am skeptical because of how restrictive the 3DS is. They would essentially have to inject a virus into your 3DS that corrupts the SD file where your save file is saved. Unless Nintendo had a hidden feature or glitch that basically allows others to wipe your file for you.
I am skeptical of this because it seems unlikely that they can access your 3DS in such a fashion. The island seems like it is just a server hosted by Nintendo that you both connect to. Essentially would need some sort of packet editing to push that through. Not saying it's impossible but it's definitely beyond my technical ability.

You could decorate your island with hybrids haha xD I've done it out of boredom though, I filled up my basket with hybrids and rare hats and I just went to the CT and gave out freebies when I left if they were nice lol
For the Island hackers, it kinda scares me and if I find anyone with a mask like that I'll leave.. But yeeah, Nintendo made the 3DS hard to hack so they probably are flipping the switch when you save/exit the island or something else? Does luckypinch know exactly what happened besides that there was a person on the island? o:
That would be kind of fun I guess and it would surprise other people who go to the island
as for luckypinch you should ask them yourself but she says she was hacked... but i don't know
