Hi all, I'm here again! This time I'm struggling to get the walking stick to spawn on my island, I've read that I have to catch 20 bugs to get it to spawn, which I've done on more than one occasion, no sign of it, can anyone help please? TIA.

they're a bit tricky to spawn but they like to hang around palm trees if you have any on your island! i'm not sure if you time travel but these are the months and times they spawn

I'm working on completing the museum again and literally caught one of these last night. I just walked around my island in circles until one finally appeared on an apple tree. I was sure to scare off any unwanted bugs so new ones could spawn in. It took several hours to find.

I find the easiest way to get rare bugs to spawn is to go to a mystery or kappn island. In this case you'll want to clear off the entire island except for palm tree's. I also move the palm tree in to a pattern so they are sort of in the middle of each side of the beach and in a staggered way, then I run back and forth until I get what I want to spawn. If something spawns I don't want I chase it away. This goes for fish too, but sometimes you have to catch bugs etc to get them off the map.
This is exactly how I caught a walking stick, golden stag and many other rare bugs. Just make sure you're in the right season and time to get the bug you want.

@Rairu Thanks to your advice my Critterpedia is complete! I went to a spiral island with my Nook Miles Ticket and cleared it. Ten minutes later, Golden Stag! I saved hours of pointless running around. Thank you! I highly recommend your advice to anyone struggling with catching rare bugs.

Another thing I like about this technique is it allows you to keep your island how you like it as you don't have to change it to catch bugs etc.
