Walking Leaf?

I've caught them before, but probably last summer. I am now only 2 bugs away from completing my encyclopedia... a scorpion, and a walking leaf. I know how to get the scorpion, I just need to be patient... but what is the trick to the walking leaf? Shake trees? Walk around? Rain? No Rain? Save and continue? or just walk around?

I am on Sept 3 in game.

the walking leaf looks like as if you have furniture items dropped on the ground. walk around your town and if you see a leaf that resembles a furniture item walk near it and it'll turn into a walking leaf. they're more common in the rain.

theyre usually under trees too, as if you shook a tree and a piece a furniture fell, thats what the walking leaf is like, except they look kinda more animated.

No, they will already be on the ground. When you see them you first think "oh, a piece of furniture.. why is that there?" but if you go near it to pick it up it will start moving away.

Also you might have more luck catching one in August or July. I might be wrong, but I think they disappear in September...

They show up randomly for me, mostly on morning/noon? So try to scare off bugs that you don't need and keep your eyes on the bottom of the trees. If you see a leaf (as described above), approach it slowly with a net and catch it, instead of waiting for it to walk away.

Ok, makes more sense. I have read that they stop appearing after the first week of Sept, so I thought I was safe but maybe it's still too late. I'll move back to August and try again. Thanks everyone!

Actually, they should still be around in September! I caught it in the last week of September, but yeah, you might have a better chance at an earlier month. Guide said it's available from July to September Good luck!
