Well if you have 9 villager it's probably better you pick the dreamie first then the other
Or let the person clean his void first to make sure

But if you have 10 make sure the other person clean their void just in case and he can take punchy and then you can pick yours

You could ask the person to clear their void. You could also just do both of those things in one ingame day, so the dreamie move in overwrites the void one.

How many villagers do you have? If it's 10 then you shouldn't need to worry. The game won't register you as having 9 villagers until Punchy's house has the moving out sign. So your visitor's void would have been cleared upon their arrival because you had 10 villagers. Now if you had another visitor after that, they could deposit a voided villager. That could even be corrected as well as long as you pick up the dreamie within the same game day, as the villager you've asked to move in will overwrite the villager sitting in the waiting/void spot. This will *only* work if it's done on the same game day though, otherwise the voided villager moves out of the waiting spot and actually begins queuing up its days to move into town ie the game now counts you as having 10 full villager spots.

Not necessarily. I have many times had someone pick up my 10th villager and i end up with their last void when I go to pick up my new 10th. You need to get this person to clear their void first if you don't want to take that chance.

You could ask the other person to clear their void before letting them come to town, i'm sure there's many people on these forums that can help them with that too. Personally I think that if somebody has a void, and they came to your town with a void but after they left before you went to pick up another villager it would cancel out their void and the villager your picking up would still be able to move into town. However, i'm not sure this is correct though because i've only received a void from streetpass. Which is pretty unavoidable. I say you let them visit first, ask if they have a void if they say no then invite them into town but if they say yes ask them to clear their void. Then pick up the villager after, since I think if you pick up a villager before you get a villager from the void that villager gets cancelled out and the void moves in.

Why not just ask the person picking up punchy to clear their void before coming to get him?
It shouldn't that big of an issue for the person.
At least if they're nice.
