I find it very annoying when a person goes on facebook to piss and moan about a stranger who came through the gates and all he did was walk around and not say anything. Yes, I am aware of people who abuse your town and steal stuff but to come on facebook and call someone out for coming into your town without warning is a bit ridiculous. Like the guy probably didn't know that the girl was doing a giveaway so it's not a crime to go into someones town and start walking around everywhere. What do you think of people who come to visit at any random time when you're gates are open?

i wouldn't be upset over it, if i had something going on/forgot to close my gates after a trade, etc. (as long as they're just harmlessly exploring my town)i'd just let the person know sorry but i'd be closing my gates if i didn't want a visitor atm.
I used to get that quite a lot when I played City Folk (or Let's Go to the City, as it's known over here). I used to have my gates open practically all the time, and unfortunately I paid the price when people came in while I was away from the room and cut down all the trees. I guess the answer is to simply not add people you can't trust, you know? If everybody you had added you knew and trusted, you wouldn't have to worry about them coming and going.
On City Folk I would add friends of friends while visiting other peoples towns. I would spend most of my time waiting to someones gates to open. Hearing that ping when somebody open their gates was the best moments of my life! I also used to have my gates open every time I played.

it depends on who it was. if it was somebody i knew well then we'd hang out or id ask them to come back another time. if it was somebody i only knew a little and they wouldnt take a hint about leaving then id be pissed off. if it was some random that i traded with like once then i'd be really pissed off. i mean, would you just open the front door of someone's house and walk in uninvited? its the same thing, really.
I don't really want/like random people coming to my town and just walking around. I like a certain degree of etiquette, where someone would announce they were there and wait at the station for me to say hello and meet them. Kind of like if someone came to my house and just started walking around all the rooms and not speaking. I would be concerned. xD
But, also my town is my baby and I spend so much time carefully manicuring it that - to each his own. Not everyone's town is like that.

This hasn't happened to be but rather I've done this to someone else but it was accidental. Sometimes I would forget my friends town name and accidentally visit another town unmeaningfully. And of course the owner of the town was confused but I apologised and left. Still people don't need to rant when someone accidentally comes to their town. It's pathetic and pointless.

I have a load of random FCs on my DS from various trades and stuff, so I wouldn't be considering any of these people my friends. If someone just turned up at my town, I wouldn't be too bothered, and just ask them to leave. But if they just came in my town, didn't say anything, and started wandering around? Then I'd get pissed. They could at least ask when they got there if they could stay, rather than staying silent. Like not even a hello lmfao

I do try and make it clear that (unless specifically stated in am opening for visitors) the only time my gates will be open is for trading.
I once had somebody I forgot to delete turn up when I was doing a trade for some valuable items. So I had to end the session straight away since I couldn't trust them. But I would have done that with any stranger turning up uninvited really. I just find it quite rude to assume you can just drop by because the gate is open.

So what do we learn from this? Keep you fc list clean, or just open your gate for your best friends. I've been doing it like this ever since I startet playing online, and I've never had that problem.
Then again - I personally would never just turn up in someone elses town, if I'm not 'real' friends with them...

I've accidently went to the wrong town quite a few times so I'm pretty understanding when people do it to me. However, I don't just walk around and not say anything. I once had an unwanted visitor arrive and he just took off running. He didn't say anything either. I just flipped the wifi.

It's never happened to me, but that's just pretty rude to just arrive with no warning like that. Misunderstandings are one thing, but doing it on purpose is another thing. I wonder if the ones who do it on purpose are just bored little kids who weren't taught any manners and think it's fun to just troll other towns and annoy people. That what it sounds like to me, at least.

Wow, really? If they're just wandering around, doing nothing, then it's not a loss at all. Hell, just from them arriving, you get a hit towards customizing your train station.

I usually drop by for a visit with their villagers and to have a coffee with Brewster. Some hosts keep their town open all night and I talk to the late night villagers. Before I leave I post a message that I dropped by.

I've only had that happen once while I was waiting for someone else to come over. I was very annoyed by it, but they just came over to leave me a cute outfit (which my mayor is still wearing), I don't remember who it was but if I could I'd thank them for it lol
