Ok, well a while ago my computer was hit with a tragic virus. The internet would not work and when I diagnosed the problem I kept getting the same answer...that my modem wasn't working. Another thing that happened is the windows theme went for 2000 to 98 and would not change. Well I decided to check out my modem and it worked fine and everything was connected. I even went on my laptop to check if it was working and the internet worked great on it. The next thing on my list was to take a virus scan, when it was finished it showed there was nothing wrong. After I told my dad about this he began working on my computer and obviously he later fixed it. But in the meantime when I had no computer I used my laptop. When I visited sites such as facebook and youtube there were no warnings from my Norton AntiVirus until I visited TBT. BAM my laptop had a different virus before I knew it. So here is the question which I doubt is even logical, what highly intelligent person is sitting on TBT spreading viruses to others computers?

BTW- this virus is really bad. It will remain undetected through most virus protection ( well that is Norton AntiVirus and Malwarebytes). When you try to shut down there will be a long pause, from what my dad told me this is an "End Program" pop up that is being blocked by the virus, making this virus practically indestructible :O . My internet is now working but my Windows 2000 theme is still messed up. Currently my dad has informed me that my computer is most likely infected.

How do you know it's from TBT? If this Virus is so bad why don't you leave so it doesn't spread to everyone else.

Ouch, that's too bad...

As the last resort, I suggest to format those computers's hard drive to gurantee a complete "virus" removal, and reinstalling everything (most importantly, any operating system disc, a few anti-virus, anti-spywares, and maybe pilots). The drawback, you will lose everything in these computers, unless you made any backup before the threat sneaked silently.

Two words: Google Ads.

Little *censored.3.0*ers are known for this kind of stuff, since Google doesn't pay much attention to the ads they put up.

@SSgt. Garrett- I explained in the post that when I was browsing TBT with my laptop I kept getting "Pop up Blocked" warnings from Norton AntiVirus. It may or may not be from here.

@TheBigJC7777777 - I watched my dad fix my computer and I'm pretty sure that's what he did. I have no clue what he did with my laptop but it was most likely the same.

@Jak- Maybe, I never thought of them causing a virus, I may have accidentally clicked on one, it seems possible.

well it's not TBT. and I didn't even read the great wall of text.

You're using Norton, that's the first problem. And like Jak said, it's probably one of the ads. I've been surfing TBT, for a majority of the time I've been here, has been virus free.

Hello d7crab ,

It seems that your dad reinstalled your computer with a disc you get when you buy a computer and that will remove everything from your computer and clean install your OS.

I'm not 100% sure but I did find 4 viruses on The Bell Tree.

That website isn't TBT.

The virus is not from TBT. If anything, you probably downloaded malware from an ad or visited an insecure site that uses Flash to take advantage of your computer.

Nah. I don't download a lot of stuff unless I know from other people that is safe. I have Norton running and SystemCare and some add-ons that tell me what sites are viruses or not. But if you go onto the Vote ad or whatever it is called, something should pop up if you have virus checker.

I have this when i try to turn off the computer it says I have to close a program (something.EXE)
But nothing bad has happened other then that thing when I turn the computer off

You might be infected with some spyware and I advise you to run a virus program and see if it remove it.

Happened to me. I can't get on that site because of it anymore.

Well yes, however that site isn't TBT. I'll alert Jeremy when I get the chance about it.

If I look through my inbox I believe Jeremy said that he would contact Nigel about this issue but it is still here!

@Nic- Yes, he did something similar to that. At one point on when my computer became infected it asked me to reinstall Windows otherwise it would not let me log on. I'd say 40% of the icons on my desktop are gone and my Windows 2000 theme is gone. I have Microsoft office which I thought would be deleted.

I'm sure that when you got your windows it came with it so it would be on the disk. But if you bought Microsoft Office 07 you should have saved the ID so you could install it again.

@Nic- well my dad got Microsoft Office from his friend at work who somehow got his hands on it from a guy in Singapore who bought it for fifteen dollars. I'm not sure if it is treated differently in any way from a virus. Anyway, Nic do you think I'll be able to send files and images to others or should I not because now I know for a fact some of my computer is infected

You probably downloaded something stupid. Plus, stop using Norton. It will give you problems.
There are stores that can take your PC and restore it as if it was just bought.
