Villagers you didn't expect to become your favourites?

Deirdre! I have never been interested in her until I saw and spoke to her on my sister's island. I actually love her markings etc. in the game, and she has such a cool vibe! I can safely say that she is my favourite villager right now

im not a big fan of the peppy personalities so when i stumbled across bunnie when i was island hopping i was twmpted to not get her,, but i also saw a cute plushie of her the same day, so i had to have her!! and i love her to bits now she can have my heart

Marshal. I didn’t really think much of him, really. I knew he was popular but that’s about it, but I found him on a mystery island and invited him and I love my little fancy/mad boi. He always looks mad and so do I irl lol

Tank is slowly becoming a favorite. I didn't think that I cared for him that much, but apparently he is at the same friendship level as Marina.

I didn't know Sylvana existed until week 2 of New Horizons and I've been a fan since Wild World. (Guess I just never paid attention!) Found her on a mystery island and I was in shock about how cute she was. Squirrels are already one of my favourites in AC, and Sylvana is now top squirrel (sorry Agent S).

Also, Willow. I was looking for a snooty to fit in my town of all different species and different personalities and I came to adore her. She is so stinking cute and a darling as well. Love her!

Also got willow by chance on a mystery island while looking for snootys. She is so adorable.

Dom! I hated jocks prior to ACNH and Dom was one of the better looking ones imo, but I never planned to have one as a permanent resident of my island.

He was a starter on my old island and I absolutely LOVE him. He always makes me smile and laugh. He actually changed my opinion on jocks to the point where I like them now! I’m very thankful I was given Dom again in a giveaway when I reset my island. He’s the best ball of floof around!

Peewee for me. He was one of my 3 random move ins at the start of the game. I hated him so much I put trash bags outside his house lol I was super petty about not getting one of my dreamies like Fauna or someone. But he still talked to me and gave me reactions and stuff even though I ignored him. I started talking to him more regularly since his deep voice cracked me up and he's now he's just the irreplaceable cranky old man on the island. I always see him and Rosie hanging out on the plaza bugging him about hip new slang and i'll see him and marshaI sitting down at the cafe pretty often lol I wouldn't replace this cranky ape for 10 Faunas now!

Agnes,
I picked her up off an island when i read Sisterly villagers will give medicine if you get bee stings.
But she's come to be one of my absolute favorites.
She's sweet, and funny!
She does the "Naruto Run" everywhere alot, mostly through my fruit orchard.
And when she does stretches, her folded over piggie ears flop upward when she stretches to the side.

She's extremely endearing and rose up the ranks as one of my favorite islanders <3

HANS. Oh my goodness, I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was when Hans showed up at my campsite.
I didn't want him... and didn't know the first campsite villager you got you had to take (so I was a day behind everyone else).
But he kind of grew on me. The gorilla villagers aren't my favorite, but Hans is definitely my favorite of the gorilla villagers now, so I can say I have at least one.

Lionel! He was my forced smug villager in the camp in NH. I thought he was awful at first, but I've really grown to like him!!

I thought Raymond would be one of my faves after I first met him on a Mystery Island and to top it all off he was one of the new villagers and that just added to the appeal, but over time I realized that while he's cute he just isn't that special to me. I stan Dom now.

Mitzi was in my campsite and I took her. She's now one of my favorites.

Dom and Teddy! Was never a big fan of the jock personality but I have both of them on my island now as permanent residents!

Dom. When I saw the new villagers, I knew he was my pick of the bunch, and said i'd like to have him on my island atleast once for a little while, but I didn't think i'd end up having him become my favorite villager of all time. He has.

I have also grown super fond of wendy. Shes very cute!

Raymond. He appeared in my campsite so I was going to invite him for the monies. Had no other i interest in him really. But over time I just... fell in love with him. I’m not sure when or how it happened, but I want him on my island forever now.

A lot of my current villagers! Deer weren't an option back in wild world so I looked though the list of villagers and picked my favorite deer villagers before I started New Horizons. I was originally supposed to have Fuchsia, Lopez, and Beau on my island but while I was looking for my dreamies I ended up finding Deirdre, Zell, and Erik (all deer with the same personalities as the first 3). I didn't like any of them when I first got them and planned on giving them away after finding the ones I wanted, but all three of them grew on me and now I can't imagine my island without them! I also originally wanted and got Fang but ended up trading him for Wolfgang who I now like much better, got Ruby and Rory even though I didn't originally want a peppy or jock, and just today got Tasha for my second snooty and she's growing on me already! So apart from Fauna, Diana, and the smuggest cat all of my villagers are surprise favorites

Honestly, Rodney. I wasn't obsessed with him in NL when he came as my first smug, just thought he was nice and chill, if a little mouthbreather-y. The reason I got so hyped to get him in NH is the smug dialogue hits different between the two games.

In NL, where smugs were mostly just polite and a little flirty, I would prefer a cutie like Marshal or Kyle. Ken and Tex were even decent picks, I enjoyed having Ken. But in NH, smugs are these arrogant Gatsbys who act like they're better than everyone else. I don't jibe with that, but I want all the personalities, so my solution was to find a smug who would make the arrogant dialogue ironic and funny. Enter my old pal Rodney.

I wasn't expecting to fall in love with him like I did when I went to go get him from someone's island though. I actually unironically like him and think he's cute now. I've been dressing him up at Harv's learning what looks good on him and in case you couldn't tell, I'm enjoying the results

In nl it was Shep. I never knew he existed til he moved into my town. He was just so cute and really laid back. I hope to get him on my island one day. In nh it's Walt. He was my 10th villager and a random move in. I wasn't thrilled when I got kangaroo villager and I thought I'd move him out fast. But he has grown on me and I find his cranky old man personality adorable. He cracks me up. And he just sent me a heart doorplate out of the blue, an item I didn't know existed and it's so pretty. I owe him a thank you gift.

Sly. When I started my island, I almost restarted as soon as I saw him.. but oh, how he's grown on me. I just think he's adorable, I can't even put my finger on why. Like, I wouldn't change a thing about him and I don't think I will ever let him leave. Also, I kind of hated Frita at first. She's a hamburger and french fry sheep who comes wearing a hot dog suit for cryin' out loud. Also, uchi (errr.. sisterly) types are a bit rough at first. I did let her leave, because a friend wanted her.. but I kinda miss her.
