Villagers using wall items you gave them?

So it's been kind of established that they won't change their wall or floor, but if I gave my villager a wall clock, would they use it? Has anyone had success with this? I don't wanna kick Fuschia but she had a standard starter villager house with kiddie colored furniture, so I've been making her swap it out with the pastel variant of it. So far I've been pretty darn successful but she didn't use the wall clock I gave her... wanna know if it even works before I craft more. Thanks!
