Not sure if this topic has already been brought up but I wish my villagers would stop wearing spooky costumes I've gifted them since we're past Halloween.
I've given them new clothes for the fall so they would change to those, but sometimes they would just switch back to wearing a spooky clothing. I may be picky, but with all the spooky items taken out of my island at this point, them wearing it just doesn't fit anymore. 🤔

Since it's something that bothered me, I thought it'd be interesting to have your thoughts on this.
- Do your villagers do the same,
- If so, does it bother you? Or on the contrary, you'd like or don't mind them wearing them all the time?
- If it bothers you, what measures do you do to counter it? Do you keep giving them new clothes? Do you speak about it to Isabelle?
- Do you think there should be a game mechanic where villagers would stop wearing spooky costumes you gift them after Halloween? (Personally, I would like that, but I know it's not a perfect solution for everybody, since I'm sure there's people who would like their villagers to keep wearing certain spooky costumes even after Halloween)

I wouldn't expect them to stop wearing any clothes you gift them, unless you spam gift them a bunch of clothing afterwards.
This is why I didn't gift any of my villagers halloween outfits, and am choosy with whatever I gift them.
I do think it's pretty dumb that you don't have an easy option to get them to stop wearing an outfit, and weird that they gave you an option to complain to Isabelle about their outfit but all that does is stop them from wearing it for the day. I'm sure Karen's like the constant complaining aspect, but it's not for me lol.

mine don't but that's because I never gifted them any costumes. I know its bad for you, but I'm glad to know they will continue wearing them after halloween because my second island is a darker/haunted theme and I may want my villagers in some of the costumes. I wish complaining to Isabelle worked to remove clothes though. I think that would be the best solution for everyone.

Villagers don't remove seasonal outfits from their wardrobe, which could be good or bad depending on the person or circumstance. Just wish Isabelle's complaint mechanic actually worked. The only solution you can take now is to flood them with new clothing till the costumes are out of their rotation.

My villagers don’t wear their Halloween outfits anymore.

When I had Julian he kept wearing the egg hat after bunny day. I kept giving him new hats he would wear for a day then switch back to the egg hat. It was a little annoying since it didn’t match the rest of his clothes.

thank you for all your advices!
yeah i agree that isabelle's complaint mechanic is full of imperfections thats why i dont like to speak to her about it
ill keep giving them new clothes then until the rotation system stops.

i see, i can totally relate. i thought about how this situation applies to other seasonal clothing too such as the bunny clothes. or how my villagers would switch to summer clothes during the fall ..
the best game mechanic that would be ideal is when you complain to Isabelle about a specific villager, you can have an actual LIST of ALL the items whether clothes or furnitures you gifted to them, so you can pick what gift you would like to be removed.

I never gave halloween costumes but had issues with other clothes. I delivered a gift from another villager to Raymond and it was an instant muscles suit. Of course it became his fave thing to wear. At first I just thought it looked weird on him but i got used to it and after a while found it funny. He hasn't worn in a while now i think about it. Also Cobb somehow got a pajama dress and he loves to walk around town in it and he looks ridiculous. I have to work on giving him more clothes so he'll get rid of it

Ugh, yes! This is such a pain! I'm currently in Winter and Rowan (the tiger) refuses to wear anything but muscles shirts and his default shirt. Heck, he has even used some of the sweaters that I've given him as decoration. Now, I just like to pretend that his fur is keeping him warm enough.

that sounds hilarious XD some of my villagers would wear ridiculous clothing too, such as the one Sheldon is wearing below (he still looks adorable though). it's mostly my mom's fault since she gives to my villagers random clothes while keeping them on her island.

i haven't given them any clothes but they only wore spooky clothes/costumes on halloween night for me. it would definitely bother me if they were still in costume two weeks later, that doesn't sound fun or like it's the way it should be...

I never gave any of my villagers halloween costumes but I assume it would be similar to any other gifted clothing (I currently have fauna occasionally walking around in a striped shirt that egbert gave her and I'm just like :cautious:) that would need to get cycled out through giving them other things

Like everyone else seems to be saying, I also did not bother to gift my Villagers spooky outfits or make spooky clothing designs for them to wear. Even though it was tempting, I said no because I didn't want the same thing to happen to me.

I'm also going to be avoiding giving them Christmas themed clothes as much as possible for the same reason.
Just keep cycling until they aren't wearing the spooky clothes anymore.

If you gave them spooky clothes they're going to wear it until it cycles out. And sometimes it takes forever and many gifts for it to get out of their storage.

yesss the instant muscle suit was gifted to my Kid Cat last spring and it also use to be his favorite outfit lol. And Sly on my island also somehow got a hold of a pj set and seems to wear it every time I have visitors. My sister thought it was really cute but I think its embarrassing lmao

but yeah, as others have said villagers apparently cannot distinguish between holiday or seasonal clothing and will wear whatever is in their inventory/closet until it is cycled out. I think I remember reading the max clothing items they can hold at one time is around 20?
