Villagers Stealing Catchphrases?

Happened a few times, two of them were funny.

I made Merengue's catchphrase "sugar", and then my most hated villager started using it too. Made him (Rasher) sound so silly lol.

Then Frank (the villager that RUINED MY DAMN FLOWERS WITH HIS HOUSE) copied Rosie's catchphrase, "senpai".

Yeees.. It happens. Almost everyone in my town says or has said shortcake because of Merengue. I don't really care, there are certain villagers that I like having them with their original catchphrase, like Julian and Chrissy, so I change it everytime they ask.

I was interested to read in this thread that the more time you spent out and about in your town the more likely they are to pick up each other's phases. I like it, and yet I am also constantly changing them. Sometimes back to their original phrase, sometimes to something funny. Sharing phrases is much less annoying to me than having them share clothing!

Most of my villagers' keep saying 'shortcake' and are wearing Merengue's chef outfit ;o; I love Merengue but I don't think I'd want everyone to look like her and say her catchphrase~ it gets really creepy xD

I was totally teasing flirty-sounding Chadder so I had him say, "Slap me!" and now almost all of my villagers are saying it! It alternates between being amusing and embarrassing me.

Also, in my other town several are saying, "I'm tasty" (for some pig who moved in and I can't recall his name) and he spread it to the others! Even Ankha! >_<

Have your villagers ever stolen a catchphrase from a fellow villager?

Right now, all my villagers have catchphrases that are not their own.

I have antipathy for this, considering the fact that as of right now, the catchphrase 'pip pip ho!' is being said by Pecan when I made it for Pippy >.<


Does anyone else dislike this?

They always steal catchphrases.. the only time I hate this is when it's a villager who cursed my town by staying forever until finally deciding to get out.

Oh yeah, I once adopted Camofrog. By the time he got to my town the one adopting him out because he showed up in her town via an unwanted Street Pass wanted him gone from her town and her sons' towns. So I adopted him.

I greeted him when he moved in and he said something that shocked me, but then I couldn't help but laugh. He said something like, "I'm here now, wh@**bag, so don't let me down!"

I truly hope I censored it well enough. But the lady was appalled when I told her and she apologized up and down. I told her to forget it that it made me laugh. We then both had a laugh about it and I changed it later to his normal "Ten hut!"

Oh goodness, yes, Hopper! Lol! He not only spreads "slushie" all over my town but got them to wear his shirt, too. Lol! He really has a projection issue...

He makes everyone in my town wear his shirt too Dx and it's not even his original shirt..... and then he went and changed into a shirt that is slightly better looking while leaving everyone else in the ugly shirt he gave them.....

I hate that, when I had Wendy she said sheepish, she is gone now Skye is still saying it...doesn't apply to you, lol. Marshall stole Muffys original Nightshade which was weird. Francine was changed mildly to karat gold now Filbert says it...And I hate when they exchange their own ugly bad decision shirts like wildfire.
