Sorry if this is somewhere on the forums already, but I was hoping someone would help me with something.

So last week, I managed to get Willow from someone's cycling town, and I let Cherry move out of my town to make space for her.
When Willow moved in the next day, her house was built in the same spot that Cherry's was, except one spot down and to the right.

Now more recently, I let go of Bob to make space for Ruby...
Ruby's house was built one space upwards from where Bob's was.

I TT'd forward to get those villagers out of my town, then TT'd back to the current date (at the time) to pick up my new villagers. Does this have something to do with that, or is my luck kinda crazy right now?

If this technique works, I'd love to use it for my other dreamies since I like the house placements of my villagers right now.

If not, are there ways to "control" where villagers move in, or is that pure random?

Thanks!

I've heard that villagers typically move to the last move-out's plot area, but this did not occur for me. My last 2 to move in decided to plot near my second character's house instead. You could plot reset, which is time consuming and requires you to make a new character instead of loading an existing one and to look around the town for the plot before saving (if you like the plot) or quitting without saving (if you don't like the plot).

That's happened twice with me as well, as soon as Zell moved out (I miss Zell sooo much :() Cheif moved in on almost the exact spot, it was literally like a square to the right difference. I thought it was pretty weird at the time as I was expecting to have to re do my paths and everything.
It's happened again now with Kyle too....didn't know it was a common thing :)

Hmm... Maybe once I get a hold of more dreamies, I can try it out again and see what happens.
I'm really curious to see if this is a legit method or something.

Do you think you can transfer some of your good luck over to me? Haha, I'm plot resetting for Fang and all he does is move behind my house, which I hate, and this is something that everyone I moved into my town did, even though they ended up in a different location, thank God.

I've had this happen to me twice now. When Skye moved out, Merengue was right on top of the now empty plot. Diana just did the same thing where Fauna used to live, but I think I did actually plot reset like 1-2 times with Diana...

This never happened to me so I don't know if it's true that new villagers will plot in recently abandoned spots. It could just be random, if you don't have much available room in your town.

All of my dogs moved down near the beach cliff, but it's totally random. There is a plot reset trick that involves creating a new character but I've never used it because I built all four of my houses early in the game. A lot of people on here use it though, so someone should be able to tell you exactly how it works.

I've found that villagers tend to move in where other houses are, so if you have other houses in the area you got those plots in, that could be why. It could also have to do with pwp placement and such, and that is helping to nudge them into those areas. There are also some areas villagers will just not plot in because there are too many buildings in that general section, so that affects it as well.

The only way to control where your villagers plot is to plot reset when you know they're going to move in.
