Villagers moving in.

I had a villager move out and went on my mystery tours. I came across Octavian on my second visit and asked him to move in. I was pretty happy with that.

Skip to today after the update, I get the message from Isabelle that Biff has moved in...not Octavian.

Is this a known glitch? I dont mind Biff, I even attempted to adopt him when he was moving away from my partners island, but the fact he's taken Octavian's spot has irritated me.

I'm also seeming to get all of my girlfriends old villagers when we're both wanting new villagers we haven't seen to show up. I came across 4 of them in a row on tours a few weeks back and ended up randomly getting her old villager Hans when I decided to leave who moved in to fate instead. Biff was also one of her old villagers. Again, is this a thing, because it doesn't seem to be happening to her and it's a bit of a let down I'm not getting anybody "new".

did octavian definitely say something about moving to your island? i always make sure to talk to ticket villagers several times bc paranoia lol.
voided (moved out without going to a new island) villagers will tell you what island they moved from, so biff should say her island if this is the case. i don't know if its possible to get a voided villager after inviting a ticket villager, since they only spawn on the tours when you have an empty unsold plot in your town. it seems you've just been unlucky when it comes to looking for villagers but your luck should turn around soon ^^

If I'm not mistaken, I think there's like a queue? So maybe when you tried to invite Buff the 1st time, he went to your "next move in" queue, to move in as soon as you had a spot. Now Octavian also joined your queue, but as he was after Biff he'll be next to move in?

As for your gf's villagers, it's definitely that your are picking up her villagers from the void... If you're annoyed about that, she can have them adopted here or on ACNH discord, that way they move out to another island and don't stay in her void.

you got her old villager when you decided to leave who moved in to fate bc he was in your void queue, only if your void queue is empty your move in will be random if you leave the spot open
I don't understand how you got biff instead of Octavian though, the nmt island villagers should take priority
as other's have said, are you sure you correctly invited him, saved your game etc.?

If Octavian gave you the prompt to invite him to your island, then he should be arriving in some way. If you couldn’t invite him or didn’t have space to invite him the game wouldn’t let you. Never heard of this.

in all seriousness, did they say they were going to move, and did you fly back to the island and check the plot?

Yea, Octavian did say he was going to move in. As somebody said above, I also speak to them a few times afterwards to "just to make sure". Didn't think to check the plot though, just took his word for it that he was on the way. Played for a bit and manually saved/quit the game too.

Wasnt aware of the void, so Hans turning up when I left it to fate makes sense. She doesnt seem to be getting any of my old villagers though even though I think all of her villagers have just 'turned up' (other than the few you HAVE to ask to come).

This is really strange, as others have mentioned. Maybe I'm just not aware enough of how the void works in this game. I always assume that island trip visitors invited to your island took priority over your void, but maybe that's not the case? If he did accept to move to your island, though, then I would also assume that it means he is now in your void queue and will move in eventually. That's unlikely a satisfying answer, unfortunately.

What I'd recommend is when you do your island hunting for villagers, have your switch in airplane mode so you don't accidentally get someones voided villager (either your girlfriends, or if you're doing many trades online and such). Doing that, and making sure the plot is sold to the villager you choose, should make it so you don't get anyone's voided villager.

How many villagers do you currently have?
If it's 8, then Octavian will be the next one to move in the queue.
Otherwirse, it is definitely a glitch because villagers don't spawn unless you have free unsold plots.
