Villagers keeping bugging me over A catch phrase

I think it's random when they ask. I've had villagers ask me a lot and some have never asked. 
Sometimes I've gone weeks without a single ping about it but other times I've gotten those requests on two days in a row.
Telling them no a second time will probably make them stop asking, but if not, say yes and just type in the same catchphrase. This might help.

I feel like they ask again really fast if I say no too. But perhaps we just feel guilty about not helping them, lol. Now I just say yes and then save the same phrase that was already there. They are thrilled with the "new" phrase, and I get to keep the one I wanted in the first place - no extra typing required!
Haha. I know how you feel. Catchphrases, greetings, you name it. It especially bothers me with Uchis, since I've been waiting for them to request the last PWPs I need, but they don't. In my first town, Rocket was always suggesting things. Sigh. A few of my villagers also started asking for me to go collect signatures in another town, ever since I visited someone else's town for the first time, so there's that one too.
But hey, at least the fact that you have so many options to change it balances the villagers' need to spread their own catchphrases to other villagers. My three peppies have started saying the same thing now. Waving goodbye at their last unique thing to say.

No more "Spies are lame." after I refused Dizzy's request to change a greeting once. My heart broke a little seeing him all sad.But hey, at least the fact that you have so many options to change it balances the villagers' need to spread their own catchphrases to other villagers. This is part of the reason why I've given up on trying to think of interesting catchphrases or giving them their original one. No matter how many times I change it, there's a couple of catchphrases that spread very quickly in my town so they change overnight. Neither of them makes any sense for most species, but it's pretty funny.

If I don't want to change it I just say Yes to the request. Than just leave the catchphrase on there and than click on the button.
You don't have to retype it.
One of my villager Greeting is Hi Mom. I gave him that catchphrase for a visitor called Mom. She really likes him.
When he asks to change it I switch it to Hi Moms.

It kinda stresses me out when they ask me. Like, I have a hard time coming up with something good on the spot! And because I'm kinda OCD, I wanna make sure they actually do have a good catchphrase.
That's what I do. XD
But, I agree that it's annoying. I've been doing the diving trick to get the PWP projects I need to complete my town landscaping, and all they do is ping me to change their greeting or catchphrase. -_-
