Villagers keep mentioning "something big"?

Both Cranston and Skye mentioned "something big" coming to my island. Is something going to happen at the end of this month? Is there a new update on the horizons?

Edit: Timbra and Skye mentioned a "big event". Googled it and all I found was rumours about Brewster from April. Anyone know what they're on about?

Yeah, they did this with the fishing tourney, too. So disappointing.

Edit: Disappointing in the sense that that's all the dialogue us for, not disappointed in the event itself.

Lol I was literally going to post this same question a few days ago, but realized it was the Bug Off. I was really hoping for diving or something new like that. Oh well, I’m sure the event will still be fun!

They said this before the fishing tourney, BUT it is bizarre, because I haven't seen them say it for the bug off. Instead I've seen them only mention the bug off in specific. I have no idea why they would have vagueness about it at any point.
