Villagers copying other villagers sayings?

I'm very particular about my villagers sayings. I never change them since I love the little words they come with originally.

A few days ago, Rosie (who lives next to Stitches) replaced her signature phrase "silly" and started saying "stuffin'"! Rosie was telling me the other day how happy she was to have such great friends like me, stitches and zucker, then the next day this? xD

Has anyone else had villagers copy each others phrases?

My villagers do this sometimes. It's a natural thing.

Yes, it's quite common. Most of my town say "bucko" - except for Bam ("wham bam") and Filbert ("dearest"). The amusing thing is that it's Filbert's default saying.

All of my villagers have taken Olivia's catchphrase and are constantly ending their sentences with "purrr". Pretty funny seeing as Tabby is my only other cat villager.

It's happened to me on multiple occasions. It was kind of funny to have Erik, Nate, and Butch all just run up to me going "oinkers" after having copied Gala's catchphrase.

LOL I didn't know they could do this! I don't think the phrase stuffin' really works for anyone aside from the teddy bear stitches xD


and "purrr" definitely only works for cats! Guess villagers aren't as picky about their phrases as I am.

Oh, yeah, they do this all the time. And they usually copy the catchphrase that fits them the least and makes them look super silly when they say it. For example, Rocket the gorilla started saying "cluckadoo" (from Broffina the chicken) and Rooney the kangaroo spent quite some time saying "quackidee" (from Molly the duck).

At one point all of my villagers decided they were chickens or ducks and kept saying quack, cluck or bwak.

oh wow this is a lot more common than I thought! I can't believe it only happened to me once so far :O

At one point 4/10 villagers were copying axel's default catchphrase which was WHONK ._.

I don't mind them copying each other as long as it's not blatantly meant for the specific animal type. For a while a lot of my animals who weren't ducks were saying quackpth and quackster -__-

I find they don't do it as much as they do in the other games, so far only 2 of mine have copied someone else's!

Everyone's been copying Fuchsia and calling me 'girlfriend'!

Tell you what is fun though... Next time someone asks you for a new phrase simply give them 'cough'. Then, that villager has the plague! Each villager who then 'catches' it will start coughing too. Then once everyone has it restart your town Except I wouldn't but, lmao.

I gave Chadder a very specific catchphrase-- "cha-cheese"-- and now half the town is using it! IT DOESN'T WORK FOR ANYONE ELSE, THOUGH! AHHHHHHH.

I hate this... I made Drake say "Gooby, pls" because he reminded me of Dolan, now everyone says it.

At one point I had Papi saying "Neigh" and then Eugene copied it. It was funny. XD I don't mind their catchphrases spreading. Mostly I set them to be things like "dear" and "love" so when they spread it just seems like a town full of really polite villagers.
