Villagers asking for perfect fruit

So, yesterday Diana asked me for a piece of perfect fruit. It's the first time this has happened; normally my villagers either ask for a specific kind of fruit - like an apple - or any kind of fruit. I'm guessing that what triggered this is that I gave a few of them a perfect fruit.

My question is if villagers can also ask for a perfect fruit that is not your town fruit. I'm guessing not, but I'd like to be sure. My town has cherries, so would it be possible I get asked for e.g. a perfect apple?

I don't think so. They're pretty general when it comes to perfect fruit. But if they ask for a regular cherry, you can give them a perfect cherry to increase the friendship points.
