so i've played acnl for around 2 years now and i have grown extremely attatched to some of my villagers and i know that i could never let them go away.
however, there are some villagers that i do like and i would keep them in my town forever but i wouldn't be extremely sad if they moved away by accident.

this being said, i thought it would be a good idea if villagers would deny your request when you ask them to stay.
this is because it's hard to say goodbye to a villager that you love and care for, but you don't always control who gets to leave your life irl.
i think this is a good idea because even though you would get really sad and probably spend hours trying to cycle them back or whatever, it brings in variety and color in your town!
there are so many amazing and cool villagers in the game and its hard to just stick to 10 forever.
like i said, there are villagers that i would not let go ever so it would be sad to have them leave and deny my request to make them stay but nothing lasts forever!

TLDR
- let the game make villagers leave even if you ask them to stay

let me know if you think this is a good idea or not, these are all opinions so lets keep it clean and calm!

I see that but some people might want to keep their dream villagers for real. You're right that some people in real life may leave you whether or not you say yes or no to them leaving, but if you have your favorite villagers in your town you wouldn't want them to leave right? If you tell them to stay they would be able to stay. But sometimes I TT so that ends up my villagers moving away. I get sad but eventually I get over it. Some people work hard to get their dreamies and they wouldnt want them to go away even though they told them to stay, but you have some points there

It's true you can't control in real life, but this is a game where people come to escape real life. It would be really sad if someone close to you in real life died or moved away, only to open up your Animal Crossing town to escape and relax to see the same thing. :(

Plus some people have worked very hard to get their villagers. They have certain themes for their town, and if their villagers were always leaving that would destroy the theme. Like with me I worked really hard to make my town all cats. I lost Olivia, Rosie, and Lolly once and I had to work so hard to cycle them back. It was a pain... I would be devistated if I lost them again because then all my hard work... almost four years worth... would be down the drain. It would kind of make me feel like why should I even bother with my villagers if they are just going to leave anyways?

Yeah true, and what about the people who PAID for their villagers, I feel like they wouldn't want to let them go after all that hard work. It may seem a good idea, but the impact would be horrendous. Also, not only paying is hard work, but cycling too. Cycling is a hard process and you have to be very patient until you get the villager you want. I think there are two perpectives here, half of my brain wants them to have their own choice, but the other have makes me think of the consequences. But this is my opinion I think there are many more people who have the same idea as you. It's makes us feel guilty when we tell the villager to stay, but I think the part where they say "Ok, I was going to stay only if you said so" or "Actually I changed my mind, there may not be a town as good as this one!" or something else. So it's really up to you. :lemon:
