villagers always hanging in the same zones?

i noticed that my villagers always stays in the same area, mostly in the plaza, sometimes near nooks cranny (which is near the plaza) but most of theme never go farther than this...
is this normal? i have a small area dedicated to villagers houses while the rest of the island is decorated and such but...
they just never visit any of the place i created

There were times when I see my villagers position themselves far away from the plaza and their own house. (I only saw Audie hanging around on a cliff once.) I presume that there's a randomness factor in here. Hopefully, someone can investigate how the game dictates villager movement.

Mine are usually around the plaza as well. I find that whenever I’m busy working on an area they like to crowd around me tho and get in my way haha

Mostly, my islanders gather around the vicinity of the plaza. But I have, on a few occasions, discovered them in places that should be inaccessible to them because, to get to these spots, you'd have to use a ladder or vaulting pole. So, yeah, there's a chance they'll visit areas beyond the plaza and shops.

Laying down paths to other areas also helps as they tend to follow paths.

My villagers like to hang out at my plaza or they like to hang out in the middle of my orchard.
Sometimes I find them wandering by the beach or rivers.

Mine are usually in the residential area, at the plaza or on the beach. It kind of feels bad since I worked hard to make lots of places worth hanging out at.

I feel it's definitely more common for them to chill at the plaza, shops or near their house. That said I do occasionally see them roaming in unusual places.

I don't know how the coding is for where they spawn at the start of the day, but I have on two different occasions had animals in places that they would have no way of accessing normally. It was on my second layer but in a place with no ramps or anything.​

Villagers will tend to hang out in the residential area (if you've got one), near their houses or most commonly in the plaza. My villagers never used to leave the residential area or plaza until I added more bridges and inclines to connect everything together. Now I find them elsewhere on the map every now and then but it's still rare, and they don't stay in these other areas for long.

I think the best option to make them hangout all over the island is to have their houses spread out over the map instead of in one area.

My villagers hang out in my downtown area ( has the plaza, shops, and a few houses), a residential area (has 5 houses), and my forest - which is a bit inconvenient cause they like to leave the path and sit under trees which makes them a bit hard to find sometimes but overall my villagers go anywhere there's a path

in new leaf my villagers wandered all over the town, but here they're only ever found in certain spots.

i think they tend to prefer paths, but only the ones made with the island designer app from what i've noticed. not so much custom ones. it's making me rethink my custom stepping stones.

I've noticed this as well. I'm not sure why though? Is it related to the way paths are laid?

I think my villagers like to go to places where I hang out. They're usually at the plaza, but whenever I do some work on my hybrid garden in the north, the next day I will find some villager strolling there.

It is the same here. They mostly cluster near the rs building but i saw others say that placing paths that lead toward other areas gonna help lead them there. I havent tried it yet but you can look into it and hopefully it works for you!

I have definitely seen them up on cliffs and stuff but it is not very common, which is unfortunate.
I have a nice diner/cafe set up on one of the top cliffs but my villagers don't use it.

mine like to go to the resident services building as well. i'm not well-versed in game development in any aspect, but i assume it's like this because u cant rly predict what ppl are gonna do with terraforming and such, so they probably made an area that the villagers will naturally go to to prevent them getting trapped or something??

My villagers tend to be all over the place but I do have the houses spread out though. On the first island I had they would all stay near the plaza area but I had the neighborhood in one big section.

Happens if they're all living next to each other, spread their houses around the island and they'll explore everywhere.

My villagers all flock to the plaza at some point in the day no matter where they live. I live quite far away from the plaza though so I'm always shocked when a villager who lives in the residential area randomly strolls by my door when I start the game.
