Until I joined, I knew the villagers in my town and that was it since ACNL is my first AC game.
I just restarted though and I have Miranda in my town. I forgot she existed.

Since ACNL was my first AC game, I didn't know about the vast majority of villagers until I became a member here. I knew about Tom Nook and KK Slider, but that was it.

I later learned that I really lucked out getting Lolly, Rosie, AND Punchy as three of my 5 starters!

When I found out about Francine and Chrissy though, I thought "Aaahhhh they're like sisters!! Cute~~"
and then when I found out about Willow, I was actually surprised to see that she was actually a Tier 5 villager

I'm always discovering new villagers it seems... and I've been playing the AC series since 2010 lol.
I usually discover new villagers when I have a move-out, I usually want to move in a villager of choice so I surf the boards and pick villagers I think are interesting

I didn't know about Pietro, Rudy, and Poppy until I randomly came across screenshots of them on Tumblr, and they're all in my town now. :> I've since looked up the complete villager list so no more surprises for me, unless I forget about some villagers which is always a possibility.

I had no idea about most of the brand new to New Leaf characters, especially Uchis and Smugs. One day I sat and went through every personality list in the AC wiki to have a look at them all and made a long long list of the ones I'd like to meet some day.

The villager I discovered most recently was the alternate skin color to Jane the Gorilla.

Naomi. When I found out there was a villager named Naomi, I wanted to get her in my town. Lo' and behold, she moved in the very next day! =D

Pretty much all of them, since ACNL was my first AC game. There's probably a lot I still wouldn't recognize by name from the Wiki. I'd have to familiarize myself a lot more with the series and characters before I could confidently say that I knew every villager. And even then, keeping THAT many straight in your head would be quite a feat.

I knew a few from the Gamecube version, but honestly I'd say that I found out the majority of villagers from looking at the forums and browsing the AC wiki. I never knew there were so many cute villagers! <3
