Villager wardrobes

I’ve asked this before, but I’ll ask again in case someone else who knows how it works sees it.

Long story short, i got a villager from another player who gifted him a TON of clothes that I’m not particularly fond of. If there any way to get them out of his rotation or reset his wardrobe? Thanks!

i'm not sure about it but i've heard of people complaining to isabelle and still they have those items, and would wear it again in the future. i'm not sure though. but i feel like they have this invisible want and they keep changing anyway even if you report.

Honestly this has been a struggle for me, what I do is complain to Isabelle as soon as I see them wearing something I don't like, and keep flooding them with clothes I actually want them to wear in hopes they rotate the ugly ones out, lol. They do seem to wear something more often if it matches their preferred style and color, and while I've not seen many guides on this, it's not that hard to figure out. I gave Diana fancy clothes such as the elegant party dress in pink and she LOVES it.

i'm sorry this is happening but i'm sorta imagining it in my head rn how he keeps changing and it'll just surprise you and it's kinda so silly, i giggled. there should be a limit of many they could only wear omg. or else complaining about their clothes is so useless now!

This is a tricky situation because it seems like complaining to Isabelle does nothing at all which is very unfortunate. I had to boot one of my villagers I got from another person because of the hideous clothing the villager was wearing because when I complained to Isabelle it removed the villagers clothing but then I saw the village wearing it again which made me sad

i gave broken glasses to snake as a joke the first day and now he seeks vengeance by wearing them everyday to remind me what pain I have brought him and the community

So what im getting out of this is that there is no way to remove clothing from a villager’s wardrobe

I gave a dress and a shirt to Clay, and quickly regreted that, because his default clothing is a beautiful cardigan that suits his color scheme, but now I have to see him always with blue jacket that doesnt look good on him at all but he uses everyday, oof
I wish that Isabelle actually reseted their wardrobe!

Is there a certain amount of clothes they have in rotation at a single time? Maybe you could try gifting them new clothes until they no longer wear what you don't like? I'm sad to hear that talking to Isabelle does nothing..there should be a way to erase a villager's wardrobe for situations like this because I'd be annoyed too

Ive given him about 10 clothing items so far and just saw him in a comedian’s costume i havent seen him wear yet lol. What a mess!

I didn't read what others have said, but complaining to Isabelle only makes them change a qr design they may be wearing that you don't like. Or if someone gave them a catch that is offensive or you just don't like. It's not really about getting them to stop wearing in-game clothes that wasn't designed.

I just realised that if you open a villagers closet over and ocer itll show you all of their different clothes if they have more than three pieces. I wish there was a way to buy them from them ugh.
