Villager species you like that are over/under rated?

Made this thread because I get why the wolves are so cute and desirable, the only one I actually like is Skye. all the others have weird eyes or look too basic. I'm a fan of the dogs, which are otherwise overlooked. share your opinions!

my favourites are the cats, they are adorable and legit amazing ♡
i think mice aren't that popular, at least i don't see anyone talk about them
i'm not a fan of the designs myself tbh, i do like bella and bree but the rest are kinda oof
but i love their ears, it's so cute and makes me want a little mouse villager on my island ☆

Anteaters are definitely underrated, they are the cutest species in the game! Dogs are also very cute and deserve more love, though it bothers me that so many of the male ones are lazies.
Deer and goats seem a little overrated to me.

I stand with anteaters! I have Cyrano already on my island (paid 70k to get him from my friend, who was really confused on why I was paying so much) and Antonio will be here soon! Antonio is my boy :’)

i can see why people like anteaters but holy those snouts just squick me. (i say as i have an octopus...)
cats are extremely popular and i think they might be slightly overrated, there are lots of cute villagers from other species. agree that dogs don't get enough love.

Birds, Ostriches, Horses, and Chickens deserve more love. Some of the anteaters are cute, too.

Cats are definitely a bit overrated. I love Bob, Punchy, Purrl, and Raymond, but there are a bunch of the cats that are hideous and so it takes my opinion of the species down by a lot.

I don't really care for the bunnies. I can't think of a single one that I love, although there are couple that are alright.

I'm the biggest cat person irl, but something about their model in AC doesn't sit right with me. It's like they're too big? Why are they as big as wolves? Their ears are weird too, I don't know. I personally think they're overrated and I've never been able to connect with any because of this

I like the elephants and all the birds, especially the chickens. I'm not a huge fan of the cat model.

Surprisingly I think the Cows (not the bulls lol) don't look half bad. Probably because there's only 4 of them but eh.

All the Eagles look pretty good too. Also wouldn't mind having a monkey or anteater since I only don't like 1 of them from each species.

I think the Cats are a bit overrated. Not a fan of the knife-like ear tips and I don't even like half of the cats honestly.

edit; oh yeah, chickens are cool too! love them all.

I'd like to stick up for mice, but I have never had a mouse villager that I really wanted to keep.

Most of the monkey villagers are honestly really cute? I feel they get overlooked a lot because monkeys as animals aren't seen as cute so people don't give them a chance in game.

Kangaroos, Anteaters and Mice also definitely spring to mind but they were already mentioned so I don't want to repeat.

edit: forgot to mention overrated. I think people can enjoy what they want but cats are definitely a crowd pleaser. Not surprising since cats are a beloved and common pet species and the cats have a lot of solid designs.​

Are the horses underrated? If so, they are one of the best designs in-game. Specifically Papi and Roscoe, all the love to them!

Otherwise, I am quite basic qua taste in villagers - love the squirrels, like the ducks and wolves (or, well, only Whitney)... to be honest, those are the only species I have and need in my town

SHEEP! I love the sheep sm, if I had an island of one species it'd definitely be sheep!
there are some popular sheep, but I feel like most are overlooked. Vesta, Willow, Curlos, and Wendy in particular!

Every type of bird, I'm not sure if they're all underrated, but I know that chickens are and honestly I have no idea why. They're so adorable! And a lot of them have really funny names

Bears deserve more attention. Grizzly, Klaus, Megan, Nate, and Tutu are overlooked, and they've got good looking designs. They're not even ranked. What gives?
