Villager Scams/Scamming Villagers... Have You Done It/Has It Happened To You?

Yeah, they are the worst scammers. I have noticed that the only time they try to scam me is when i have lots of money in my pocket. When i have a small amount or 0, then they give me stuff for free. . I sometimes just walk around with pockets full of cash though because i think its cute they try to take advantage of me.

Yeah mine do the same. I always used to accept whatever deals they offered but, now that my catalogue has grown and I have high friendship with all of them, I will refuse any trade or sale that seems unreasonable.

I've also been selling items in retail for the highest price villagers will pay for them. I will put the ore I get each day in retail for 7500 and the villagers will always buy them for that price and it gives me a nice and lazy source of income.

Goodness, yes, to all of this! I get sold fake art all the time, but sometimes it's real and they give it to me for free (thank you, Zell!). I can't say no to any of my villagers.

Katt used to scam me all the time for bells, Lobo would warn me the item may be fake, and Zell and Julian usually give it to me for free.

Marshal has yet to try to sell me anything, but again, I just got him.

I do sell some stuff for fairly high prices in Re-Tail, and I push them towards the ore, beehive, or whatever I want to push off on them.

I haven't yet done the Lazy Camper Trick, but I really want to. I have the Camp Site but hardly ever does a camper even show up.

I remember Chrissy trying to sell me three paintings before for a ridiculous. One of I took the plunge and it turned out to be genuine. Most of the time when my villagers try to sell me paintings I just like "Naaahh.... even Crazy Redd offers a better deal."
No problems in Retail though since I fill that place up with ore and sell it to them for 8000 bells.

Punchy had the nerve to call me weird for not accepting his great deal of my golden stag beetle for his common floor. Apparently anyone else would have thought it a great deal.

I've had pretty good luck with my art from villages though. Only one turned out to be a fake, and Chow told me it might be.

mira keeps trying to sell me art, julian has too. they've given me some genuine, some not. i always refuse the first and they drastically decrease the price so i bite just in case. friendship is high with them though, if that matters.

Strangely enough, I'm pretty sure I have high friendship even with the ones that have scammed me multiple times, so maybe it's just random luck. (Marshal has given me his picture like 3 times now.) Either way, it's still pretty rude of them to scam their mayor! D: For shame.

I guess in the end, it doesn't actually matter, since even the largest amount they try to scam you with is pretty much chump change to anyone who has so much as hunted beetles on the island once or twice. And I've been there probably hundreds of times by now. Hahaha.

I play the guess the color/card game with campers. I just stuff my pockets with flowers and sometimes they buy them for over 2,000 bells. XD

I don't buy painting from my villagers for this reason. I don't really care though if they ask for stuff at a low price, most of the time its something I got for free anyway.
