Villager plot resetting question

In villager resetting at the beginning of a new town, you get the main 5 villagers. Now, after that you can use the "start a new character and look for the new plot" thing.

I get that. But if the missing personalities are Smug and Uchi, if I let in an uchi I like will the next day be the time to reset and I'll only have smugs to choose from?

I have the chance to keep Flurry, and she looks positively adorable. But I want to plot reset for Marshall. If I keep Flurry, will tomorrow only give me smugs with the new character? Can it be several days before the next villager moves in?

I've never done this before and I'm a bit crazy with worry that I'll screw up my chances to finally get Marshal.

Or...am I better off letting Flurry go and keep trying the new character until (or IF) I ever get Marshal?

I hope this all makes sense. I'm wondering if keeping an uchi will "lock in" the next personality type, and if so, will the 7th villager move in the next day or can it be later, and thus make me crazy with worry for days?

is your 6th villager flurry? if so.....

then you can TT two days forward and villager reset with the new char
however it will spawn both uchis and smugs since you are still missing those
if you find an uchi you like, you can save and quit with the new char

TT forward again two more days
NOW, it will only spawn smugs
and you can reset however many times you want until marshal appears

Oct 2 - 6th Villager
Flurry's plot appears

Oct 4 - 7th Villager
Smugs and Uchis will spawn
Save whenever you find an Uchi you like

Save whenever you find Marshal

The 9th villager moves in within 5 (or was it 7?) days

Oh, goodness...THANK YOU! Yes, my 6th villager will be Flurry if I lock her in. My game is sitting right next to me as I decide. So, if I let in Flurry, the next will be a smug and thus the pool will be a lot smaller. *whew!*

Edit - oh, I totally forgot I could, after accepting in Flurry, make a new character and hop 2 days to be sure the 7th is trying to move in.

I think there's no guarantee of which personality you will get but there might be a higher chance for ones who don't have currently.
You might be plot resetting for a while to get Marshall.. You may be better off trying to adopt him off someone.. (at the cost of many many IG bells..)

You were of help! I can never seem to get Marshal no matter how long I'm able to look, lurk, or try to trade. I never have the right timing or the right villager to trade.

And thank you, Sholee, for your list. It really helps! I never knew you could get 2 uchis in a row to spawn, so that was one reason I asked. Your time line is also very helpful as I never knew any of that, either.

I'll plot reset for Marshal and if I don't screw up I'll get him at long last! Of course if I DO screw up I'll be resetting the town, probably, out of sheer frustration.

As someone who has sold plenty of marshals, resetting for a smug/uchi is VASTLY easier than any other personalites. And if your lucky, you can get Marshal in less than an hour.

There's only 31 smugs and using this method makes it super easy because if the only villager personality you're missing is a smug.... well then it'll only spawn a smug for your 8th.

Now....... resetting for Merengue or Ankha.. would be a pain in the..

There's only 31 smugs and using this method makes it super easy especially if a smug is the 8th villager because every reset will be a smug.

Woo hoo! I feel so much more hopeful already! That's what I needed to know. Now I can work on my new town with a peaceful mind. Just as long as I remember to watch the times and make a new character I'll be fine.

And yeah...I thought that resetting for him would probably be WAY easier than trying to adopt/buy him.

Yeppers...I think so, too. Even tho there are bound to be repeats, I'll take my chances. Also, it will be nice to save my bells for PWP's or rare items or something.

However, I would have thought that by now everybody who wanted Marshal would already have him and he would be easy for me to buy because I'm always the last person to get on a "bandwagon" so to speak. But I guess not - or else other people reset towns for varying reasons more often than I thought.

Congrats! I share your joy, I plot reset Rosie and it only took 45 minutes for her to land on the perfect spot. Did Marshal have a good spot, too? I would be amazed if I got a good villager and in a good spot *_*

Thank you, everybody! And I'd say he did land in a good spot. He's not far from a few other villagers, so I'll still have plenty of room for PWP's that I want. Too bad he isn't next to my mayor, but still, he's in a nice cozy little place near Drago and Snake.
