By this point, most of us have probably heard about personality subtypes. Something I've often read is that subtype differences are not really noticeable, at least until higher friendship levels.

I went back to ACNH recently and moved in a new Jock. The existing Jock sounds like a chill sports fan, the new one is obsessed with muscles. They do belong in different subtypes.

If memory serves, when I had two Lazies, one would was obsessed with bugs, the other had more varied conversations.

I'm talking about villagers I don't have high friendship with, like recent move-ins!

I'm curious about if you've noticed differences at lower friendship levels as well. Maybe it's noticeable in some personality types? Crankies and Normals don't seem to have such big differences right off the bat. I'm especially curious about the personality types I haven't mentioned (Snooty, Big Sister, Peppy, Smug) because I don't think I've had duplicates at the same time and can't compare!

i actually didn’t know this …

some of the personalities and dialogues are just so similar to me that having a duplicate of one personality kind of makes me feel like i have clones. maybe in my case, erik and stitches happen to be the same subtype so have the same dialogue? i also have an issue with cranky villagers all saying the same thing. don’t have this problem with other personalities though, peppy, snooty, and sisterly seemed to be more varied

Interesting. One difference I noticed was that nana was obsessed with wearing her glasses and Check plants with magnifying glasses and sit around and read. I constantly saw her do this while my other normal villager Ione didn’t do this at all. Idk if it’s a coincidence or not

@Berrymia i think this is because of the hobbies villagers have. it dictates the kind of activities they like to do around the island

I’ve been playing new horizons since release and I was today’s years old when I found out about HOBBIES..? How did this completely go past me lmao

@Berrymia girl

I have 2 sets of 2 villagers with the same personality (Peppy Tangy & Shino, Jock Teddy & Kid Cat) and they seem identical to me in terms of dialogue, though Tangy and Shino have different hobbies (Tangy's singing, Shino's education), which helps them stand out slightly from each other.
