Hello, I was wondering something about the villager personalities. Are villagers of the same personality types..."different" from each other? For example, lets take Mitzi and Kiki, two 'normal' cat villagers. Because they have the same personality, wouldn't they basically be the same person, just with a different name, sprite and house? Do all the normal villagers basically say the same thing? Or is each individual villager different regardless of sharing the same personality type. What type of differences are these? I was wondering if this was a factor in why some villagers are more popular than others, or if popularity is based only off of looks.

they say the same thing, however sometimes they replace the name of things of whatever they talk about to something different

ie: Molly and Merengue talk about books to me, but molly's book will be about plants, merengue's will be about another topic

or Drago and Stitches dreamt about food, but drago dreamt about tacos and stitches dreamt about a casserole.

hence why I try not to talk to my duplicate personalities too often

They all basically talk about the same things, making some switches, like Sholee said.
But yeah personally, I like the lazy and cranky dialogues a lot, which is why I can stand having so many of them, and I really don't like the jock dialogue. Even though I love Drift, I'll probably let him go.
So yeah, they're the same, but I think the popularity is based mostly off of looks. The popular ones are typically cuter or have something special about them.

This is also why it's a good thing to have varied personalities in your town, to not get so much repetitive dialogue out of villagers.

The basic differences between villagers are just their design, their house and decorations, as well as catchphrases and music choice. But yes, other than those factors, they are very much the same, because it would be a lot of work to come up with different dialogue for 333 villagers. In certain conversations the nouns may be changed, such as a discussion about a certain villager or item.
