I've been ignoring half my villagers because I'd like them to leave but ofc Kabuki who I always talk to asks to leave and I tell him no. Does that queue up another animal? I currently have 10 and have been waiting the past few days for someone to mention leaving so how long before another villager asks now that I've stopped Kabuki? Beardo asked 3 days ago and then changed his mind because we aren't friends enough. Another 3 days?

From my experience, it's 3 days. I'm not sure it's always like this though.

I think it's between 4 and seven days that someone asks to leave. No one will ping you until your new move in is settled as in, plot placed, home unpacked, and two days of roaming around, getting to know the other villagers. I've been having it every four days like clock work for the past few weeks, up until someone moved out.

I actually find that villagers leave faster if you become their BFF. Like talk to them several times a day, do favors for them, etc. That is, once they reach the highest level of friendship with them, it's like they accomplished their "goal" in your town and want to move on.

So, what I do is I always talk to every villager at least once a day so that there is no surprise move outs. (Don't ignore your favorite villagers, otherwise they won't ping you if they decide to move!) And the ones I want to leave, I chat them up like crazy.

I'm not sure if that's entirely true! I sometimes get villagers asking me to leave when I only have 8 and a plot placed for the 9th.

I agree though that it seems like villagers who you are better friends with like to move out sooner! If you have been ignoring villagers, they may not ping you before they leave (idk if that matters though, because you said you're trying to get rid of most of them hehe)

^ Very true, this. Tom & Mitzi are my BFF and they have reached said "goal" quite a long while ago, so whenever I'm back in town (once everyday or two, and I make it a habit to write down when was the last in-game day + who I stopped from moving, etc) I have to do this routine spam chatting / ping-seeking to ensure no one is trying to make a run for it lol.

The sad reality is that for me, I tend to turn down some of their requests, say, changing clothes, deliveries, especially on relatively newer town folks like Erik/Poppy. That way it can kinda slow down that friendship maximizing meter, I hope. Never give them bugs or fishes or you will regret it. XD

One thing I love doing is that when they ask for a certain fruit, always gift them the Perfect version of it. Not only it make them your BFF faster, their reaction is quite amusing <3

Sometimes when no one mentions moving, I tt forward a few hours and it almost guarantee someone is pinging to move.
But yeah, with the ones you really wanna see out, chat them up like there's no tomorrow.

I've had someone ask me the day after someone else had asked me to leave.

I also have a question about moving villagers so rather than start an new thread I'll just ask it here.

I have a new village, its only 3 days old but Carmen has just moved in and placed her house in a terrible position. I'd heard of a method of getting rid of villagers where you speak to them once when they've moved in and don't speak to them again and they should move out within like 10 days or something. THIS METHOD HAS NEVER WORKED FOR ME. Anyway assuming it does work is it possible to move someone out using this method when there is only 6 villagers in your town.

Villagers do not take much to make you a bff either.Talk to all your villagers each day and they will be your Bffs in not much time at all. I have never gotten positive results more than once out of the tens of times I have tried ignoring a villager. Talking to all of them each day is helpful in preventing a move out of your favorites too because there is more opportunity for one of them to inform you of their move!

Alright thanks! I had read somewhere to just ignore them but I'm seeing that is false. You've convinced me to talk to them all, max them out so they can move on and I can keep an eye on my 4 favorites. Thanks!

I agree. I ignored Kitt for the most part, and it took her two months to move out, as opposed to the ones I talked to always asking to move out.

I don't think that method will guarantee to work, but to answer your question, neighbors can't move out unless you have 9 or more. It is possible for them to ask to move out shortly after moving in, though. I had a neighbor ask to leave after three days of living there. Also, you may want to plot reset in the future.

My way to make them move is to constantly talk to them, time travel 2 days see if anybody wants to move and then time travel 2 days back then we check if anyone wants to move andrepeat the cycle all over again, this worked for me and also allowed me to take control
