Villager Move-Ins

Does anyone know whether or not I can prevent a specific plot from being used or moved into if I put patterns on the ground?

I’ve noticed villagers can move in where the sign posts are. This is for wild world (which the thread was posted it) and city folk. So I don’t know if you have to worry. As for New Leaf, this was a problem people had

I see. So I probably cannot prevent a specific spot from being taken. Unfortunate, but understandable. Thanks!
