Villager move-in issue?

Hello! I've recently faced and issue with adopting a villager from someone else's town, and I would love some advice.

Once I entered said villager's house in the generous user's town, I was never prompted to ask the villager to move into my town (no option saying 'Move into mine!' or anything similar). Confused, I tried again the next day after cycling some villagers in / out of my town to ensure that there was nobody in limbo. I had 9 villagers during my first visit, and 8 during my second. During the second, still nothing was prompted.

I do now have the villager in my possession on my side game, but does anyone know why I wasn't able to adopt in my main town? I had never owned the villager before.

Any ideas would be great!

Did you have the villager before in your town, and then make them move out?

Because you'll have to go through the 16 villager cycle before being able to get the "Move into my town" phrase.
So you'd have to make any 16 villagers move out first, which is a pain :/

No, I've ever had her in my town before. ;v; Not this one, at least. I've had her on my other game before I restarted that one, but not on this particular cartridge! If it helps, both of my towns are on separate cartridges -- neither are saved to the system.

It's possible that someone already asked that villager to move into their town. Or maybe the generous person had a friend visit and even though the friend did not ask said villager to move in the villager decided to move to their town anyway

The thing is, I visited with my other game and it let me adopt her! It's very confusing. Possibly just a glitch with my game. ;v

Oh... that is weird! Have you tried to adopt anyone else with that save?

Yeah! It is strange. And I have adopted many villagers before with that save, one happened the day before this issue. I even TTed to see if anyone was waiting to move in, nothing! I'm going to try a 16 villager cycle in case for some reason the game thinks I had her before, hopefully Lolly can move to my main town soon! Thankfully my side town isn't a cycling town or anything, so I won't lose her.
