Villager House Placement

Perhaps this is totally random but;
I've recently had a few villagers move in who have moved right next to some of my flower fields and cross-breeding patches. It has been good because they haven't squashed a single flower, yet they might be right next to the patch. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences, and was thinking maybe this is part of the beautiful town ordinance - that villagers cannot move where flowers are?

Nope, you've just had good luck! My latest villager took out flowers and a perfect peach tree.
