Hey, when I originally kicked Celia out for Genji (via amiibo card), the house exterior stayed as Celia's; naturally, I assumed that in this game house exteriors wouldn't change since, y'know, they wouldn't realistically tear down a house and put it back up? However, I got Audie today (not via amiibo), and her house's exterior is HERS, despite moving in place of Axel. Can anyone confirm if this is an amiibo-only issue or if it's random?

both amiibo and island villagers had changed exteriors for me. however some villagers appear to have the same house exteriors so maybe the villager that moved in simply had the same one as the previous villager?

While that could be possible, I highly doubt it because Celia's exterior is bright blue and frilly-looking. Genji is is very traditionally Japanese, so I don't think he'd have that. Though, I also have Chester, who has a Japanese-exterior. Maybe Genji has the same as Chester and 2 of the same exteriors aren't allowed in a village at once?

Unfortunately this sounds like a glitch many people have reported experiencing. :(

Luckily though from what I remember, this glitch doesn't go beyond the cosmetics of it, though it's awful enough as it is. I believe it's linked to Amiibo use.

Same happened to me and I think it's a bug. Normally the villagers should change the whole house, but yesterday Cherry moved out for Queenie and the exterior of the house remained the same, yet the inside changed completely. Well, it doesn't bother me that much, but it's a bit strange for sure.

This glitch only happened to me with kid cat, it seems to be random

I had this glitch, I kicked out Rocket for Chester via amiibo and he was stuck in her hideous pink house. I tried relocating the house to see if it would magically reset the exterior but that didn't work. The only way i was able to fix this problem is kicking out chester with another amiibo in which made the plot of land reset and then moved him back in again.

They did in my case.
Axel moved out. He left an empty plot (There was no house or "I moved" sign)
Yesterday Clay moved in, and was in boxes, unpacking.
Same day, I invited Mitzi in, and kicked Clay out. Clay was still in boxes, but now his dialogue has changed from unpacking, to now packing.
Today, Clay is gone, and there is an empty plot with no house, and a sign saying reserved for Mitzi.

So tomorrow Mitzi will have a house there.

Aside from Axel already being an exapmple, both Clay and Mitzi will be building their house from scratch. And I can tell you, Clay did not have Axel's house.

Did you TT backwards during the moving process? That's how Marshal got stuck with Rocket's pink house, I was TTing backwards and it glitched it.

I've kicked out 2 of my starter villagers (Muffy and Sprinkle) and the random obligatory camper (Beardo ugh....) with 3 amiibo villagers and TT'd forward one day at a time to speed up the process. All 3 amiibo villagers moved in no problem with their own house exteriors and interiors. Maybe the problem/glitch arises when you TT backwards in time?

It's definitely possible that I TTed backwards while moving Genji in, but I'm not 100% sure if I did

I've been messing around with this and TTing backwards gets the house exterior stuck in my experience. You need to keep going forward in time, so that the villager you're moving in gets their houseless plot, then moves in the next day. You can't skip ahead multiple days either otherwise you'll get the same problem.

Very true. It's important to be patient and go forward one day at a time.

Several people have mentioned the same as you. I think this might be a pretty confirmed way to get a glitched villager.

So kicking someone out for an invited amiibo works fine as long as you don't time travel? I'm ready to start moving my other 6 villagers in starting tomorrow, which is going to take long enough, so hopefully this has been solved!

Also, I set my time back to March 20th about a week into the game so I could restart at the same date and then moved it forward day by day as I progressed through the start up story - up to the point of laying the 3 plots. Would this count as time travel and trigger the glitch?

I don't think so. Only time traveling backwards seems to trigger the glitch
