Villager Birthdays

my question is not about WHEN villager birthdays are, but more about WHAT happens besides the message post on the town board.

i've visited them at their houses and talked to them outside of their houses whenever it's been their special day, but nothing seems out of the ordinary or special. does anyone have any information about this? is it possible to celebrate with them?

in WW (if i'm not mistaken), we were able to visit them all day and there was usually another animal also visiting. i'm wondering if there's anything along those lines... thanks! ^_^

YES - i had opal's yesterday, and genji's today.

i have no fewer than FIVE of my animals' birthdays this month!!! that's why it's on my mind... and if there's a proper way to celebrate the birthdays, i'd like to know. ^_^
