Villager Birthday Glitch?

As of writing this post, it is Bones's birthday. I have him in my town and started up my game, but he's outside walking around just like any other day as opposed to being in his house celebrating his birthday. I double checked to see if the date is correct and it is August 4. I never experienced this kind of problem during my 5+ years of playing New Leaf. Has this happened to anyone before?

I'll put out a few things that could've played a factor to this:
- I didn't play in over a week
- My mailbox has been full for months
- All of my villagers have been with me since 2015 (Aside from Kitt who came in 2016)

Help would be greatly appreciated! It's a shame that Bones isn't celebrating his birthday in my town.

I had that problem with Yuka on her birthday. I forget exactly what happened to resolve it, but I do know that I talked to her on both my main and my alternate account before she ended up going back inside to celebrate. Try that! Let me know what happens.

I tried and unfortunately, it still doesn't work. I even tried restarting my 3ds and the results are the same. I appreciate your help, though.

I wonder if he's outside because he's planning on moving. Maybe see if you can get him to ping you and then save and reload the game.

I think he is outside because he already had his party, villagers don't party on their birthday all day. They will eventually go back outside and do nothing.

You could check if your gate's open. When gate's open, villager with birthdays will not have a party. Once you close the gate, the party will resume but I've had one glitch where the party was cancelled and after closing the gate, the party did not resume

I have had that! So Hazel moved in 2 days before, and it was her birthday. Since me and my sister share a town, on har character she talked to Hazel. However I did not. My sister got a letter from Hazel which was her birthday invitation. So I think you have to talk to them first.
