Villager Birthday Gift Hints

Has anyone had experience with villagers telling you what they'd want for their birthday?

Just had Zell congratulate me on paying off my loan, then said, "Now you can buy me that snowmobile I've been wanting for my birthday!"

Do we know if this is a mechanic in the game, or just a throwaway line that any villager could say? Also, just in case, are there snowmobiles in this game?

i think it’s just a throwaway line - i don’t even think there is a snowmobile in the game lol
