Well, in my first save file, I had Fang, who I instantly became a fan of. However, I restarted the game because I realized I didn't like the map layout.
Many tries to get him back later, including a time where everyone who greeted me (except Isabelle) were horses, I got greeted by Chief, who I became a bigger fan of. However, I kind of cheated in my game by changing the 3DS clock, so I reset again.
Is there any way to make the game so that you'll for certain have a certain villager in your town? Or is it all random? Because if it's random, I have a 3 in, like, 300 chance of getting Wolfgang, Fang, or Chief...
If I were you, since you already have reset, just keep on trying. It might take a bunch of tries, but if you really care that much, go for it. Or you could also start a game and earn up a lot of bells and buy one of them from the Villager Trading Plaza.
It's random. Why not just get a really good map with any old starting villagers, then use the new-character-reset trick to get a wolf? You're guaranteed a particular personality on a new move-in so as soon as you start seeing a cranky character's plot show up in town you can start resetting to make it Wolfgang or whoever.
You could just invite in the villagers you want if you can find people with them moving in the villager trade threads. Or pick a town with no cranky villagers (I think they're all cranky) then do the villager reset trick to get an uchi and a smug villager on days 2 and 4, then on day 6 if you try the villager reset trick only Cranky villagers will try to move in. ;D So you'll have a 3 in 35~ish? chanceof one of those putting down a plot.
^This is my trick for getting Marshals and Julians to give to friends. Only ~20 smug villagers so pretty good chances for them.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm just going to wing it, and if I don't get the villager(s) I want, I'll just try and trade them for the ones I do want, if I can.
